See, byrd...I got that post up and I know for a fact you weren't expecting that with what we discussed.

What I like about what I just did was,

I just posted an anti-violence speech as Bruce Wayne. Then followed it up with a violent post involving stabbing a dude and slamming him into solid concrete as Batman.

Contradictions be damned, I love dual identities.

Alright, so some of you guys know that I was trying to recruit a friend of mine to join UDC as a certain Justice League villain and take part in a big JLA story I was putting together. Unfortunately, despite having cool ideas for the character, she was understandably intimidated by the idea of taking on such a central villain in a big storyarc. So I've decided to take on the responsibility myself...

.Character you wish to portray: Jane Davidson aka Doctor Destiny

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain

.Powers and physical attributes: Ability to invade the minds of victims and manipulate their dreams and perceptions. Close proximity to Jane in the waking world can also induce sleep in the people around her if she wishes.

.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Doctor Jane Davidson, an experimental psychiatrist and inventor for a subsidiary of LexCorp, was on the verge of a breakthrough in the study of sleep and the human subconscious. This breakthrough came in the form of a new procedure using a combination of drug therapy and her invention called the Materioptikon. It would allow the subjects to recall their dreams as clearly as they would actual memories, and theoretically enable people to implant their own dreams with pre-programmed thoughts and ideas; essentially letting people learn while they sleep. With LexCorp not wanting to be associated with such preposterous ideas that are better left to find their place on late-night television, the funding for Dr. Davidson's project was cut and she was left with few alternatives but to prove the effectiveness of her life's work to the world. Using the Materioptikon procedure on herself, Davidson's perception of the difference between dream and reality became blurred and distorted as she began to lose her mind and fall into delusions of godhood. She also found herself now in possession of a very unique set of abilities.

.The burning question - Why this character?: I wanted to have a big JLA story and Dr. Destiny provides the opportunity to have such a storyarc without each of the Leaguers necessarily needing to be in the same room. So there's a bit more freedom for each of us to work and do our own things with the heroes while still being able to have the teamwork thing going on. Also, who here didn't watch Inception and then wonder how things would go if you could manipulate the s**t out of peoples' dreams?

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: This Doctor Destiny has boobs, although she can assume whatever form she wants in the dreams, boobs or no. She also has an entirely different set of goals in mind than her comic book counterpart, although they still put her firmly at odds with the Justice League. I'm not going to lie and say that I wasn't inspired by the Inception plot point of implanting ideas into an unknowing subject's mind, either.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I'm pretty diehard for this RPG already, and am a manipulative bastard who loves brutally tearing heroes a new one. NSFW.

.Provide a short sample post as your desired character, in three paragraphs or more:

It is a surprisingly dark place here for such an apparently upstanding young man. His family occupies a warm corner of his mind, but he dreams not of them for the moment. His job and coworkers are not on his mind either, nor the freedom he must feel as he soars over this world day after day.

No, what this "Superman" dreams of is an emptiness, characterized only by the things that were here before, but left him behind. A friend and fellow hero, Peter Silverstone, driven insane and turned into a murderous lunatic with a thirst for the blood of the man of steel. The lovers he's betrayed and been betrayed by; an alien warrior queen who used him and posed as his ally, and a woman whose quest to illustrate truth and justice to all of her readers surpasses even his high regard for those ideals.

That is what he secretly fears. To align himself with these other heroes is to join a team full of even more potential traitors and people he may find himself having to turn on. For a man striving to uphold truth and peace, this must be a nightmare, while I am going to make it his destiny!

.Preferred roster pic? (No preference, and one will be chosen for you):

C'mon Doctor Love and MB. Without Batman available, Bane is just kind of spinning his wheels without a plot to move forward with.

I don't know why you're always picking on me, Spike. Screw you! I've had it up to here with you. Real life has been kicking my ass enough lately (why I've been so inactive), I do't have to take it from you too.

Sorry to leave you hanging, Batman, but I can't take this any more. I have to quit.

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone. We're all guilty of being lazy. Come to think of it, Spike is the worst!

Recently found the perfect design for Ultimate Superman by virtue of venturing into the wasteland of the Superman movie forums.

Give him the S-shaped curl in his hair and this is exactly what I picture for him.

Dude. Andy, awesome post. I'm serious, I actually smiled a bit at the back-and-forth chemistry between Dick and Raven. And then proceeded to geek out at your rather clever allusion to the Robin codename. Well done.

I try. Sometimes.

Oh, and is it too late to keep posting as Lex and Diana? I'm pretty sure I'm way past the limit on those two.

It's about time you thought about updating it. Dr. Destiny was feeling all left out.

When are we planning on getting the JLA/Dr. Destiny storyline up and running?

That's the reason I haven't posted as The Atom for the last few days.

Was planning to get a move on it soon, but the new job's taking up 14-ish hours of each day has ground my posting to a crawl (which is also why I'm been absent from the Murder Mystery RPG). I hope to at least get a Superman post up tonight. No guarantees for Destiny or Bane. Those'll have to wait until the weekend.

No problem...reality takes priority...I'm just holding off on any Atom posts until then.

Who says only DC can do retcons?

I realized I made a slight error when creating The Turtle. He is 88 years old, not 68.

After several months of procrastination - of which I can't even think up a good defense - the veil was lifted, and the rosters are now finally updated once again.
