I don't think anyone on that show made a big career for themselves based off the fame and recognition of being on that show. Adam and Burt ended up being typecast. Burt gave up acting altogether.

It was the actors who had big careers going into the show, like Burgess Meredith, who still went on and continued their big careers afterward, but the show was a nice addition to their resume. No matter how successful his career was, I think Burgess is remember by most for either being Penguin or Mickey Goldmill in the Rocky movies.

This tv series will always have a special place in my heart . After all it was my very first experience to The Caped Crusader as young child .

It was a bomb, but yeah. Merdith is great in it and the ending is classic. It was one the episodes that helped define the series. My personal favorite episode. He also starred in "Mr. Dingle the Strong," "The Obsolete Man," and "Printer's Devil." The former two are also great and I haven't seen the latter.

Burgess will always be the Penguin and Mickey but I will also remember him as the profane as hell, uber sexually charged old man from Grumpy Old Men. Nothing like hearing a string of sexual euphemisms from a 90 year old man.

I've seen all three of them. Burgess seemed to be a bit of a favorite on that show. That's why they kept asking him back.

He was hilarious in those movies.

Burgess: "A woman? Did you mount her?"

Incidentally I think Grumpier Old men was the last movie he did before he passed away.

I know he wasnt well for much of the filming of GOM 2. He couldnt remember his lines, so they had people holdings signs off screen for him to read. Still, he was a very old man at the time so I cant blame him.

I also recall a Simpsons episode that parodied Batman with Bart dressed as Batman and I think Homer was the Riddler.

Wow, what episode was that in? I've never seen it. The Simpsons have a million 60's Batman references in them. Obviously the writers were huge fans. The series is peppered with them.

Hopefully someone will upload it to youtube so non-Uk viewers can see it, but ITV4 are showing an amazing trailer of old Batman clips edited together with TDK s/track attached, which ends with an image of Cesar Romero used for the famous Why So Serious poster.
They are repeating the show from ep1 starting this week btw.

Whoa sorry Joker for such a late reply. I disappeared for a bit. Also I'm not sure if I mentioned it here before but any of you guys watch the show Hollywood Treasure? I'll dig up the episode but there is one episode where they go to the home of the man who has the biggest B'66 authentic costume collection in the world. Can't think of his name but he's one of the biggest film prop collectors there is.

Adam West. What a great guy. He always says nice things about Burgess, Julie, Frank etc when he's recounting his days on Batman.

His comments on Nolan were very gracious, too.

I caught that ad again today, they showed it in the ad break after the second ep of Batman, so if you get ITV4 in your part of Ireland, I'd set my video recorder for that time period.

oh, and the image I was talking about at the end of the ad, with Romero in place of Ledger in the famous poster, well, it says 'Not So Serious', lol, I didn't catch that before, the ad passed by so quick and i was more checking out the image of Romero.
