It doesn't irk me in this regard because I don't know if Nolan did or didn't have a hand in some of these choices. It wouldn't surprise me if he did or didn't. I do think that Snyder should get alot of credit though because he's duh, the freakin director! I'm sure WB has had their say too because after SR and SuckerPunch's failure I doubt that Synder is being given unlimited power to do whatever he pleases.

What really annoys me the most is this, if this movie is great and success Snyder will probably get very little credit for it and Nolan will get all of the credit. I know the fanboys, this will happen and if the movie is a failure Nolan's hands are completely clean. He had no hand in the failure.

I'm hoping that the movie is fine because I really want a good Superman movie, for once.

Nolan is a fantastic filmmaker and I'm looking forward to his upcoming films but I'm not going to give him any undue credit one way or the other. Same with Zack Snyder.

This isn't an opinion...it's a fact.

Personally Superman fighting robots and the skull ship is my idea of a nightmare. I've always had my reservations as to how well Brainiac would work on screen, let alone in an origin. I'd say, if anything, they should have him at the end of a triology. Something huge and bigger than anything Superman faced before, but something that connects back to the beginning, to the destruction of Krypton.

I wasn't keen on Zod at first either. But I think there is so much they can do on an emotional and personal level. Zod is the only person on earth that can give Clark the answers he's looking for, and there are so many parrallels you can draw between them before the inevitable realisation that they are on opposite sides of a moral agenda.

It's a story that can be not too big and not too small. It can accomodate everyone's wishes for action and a physical threat for Supes, while still leaving the door open for a TDK style symbiosis/connection between the two characters. Two peas in a pod, two outsiders, but seperated by their good vs evil natures.

IMO, it's the perfect way to begin.

This is the guy who said to WB that Watchmen shouldn't be a greenscreen movie, and then proceeded to built tons of sets, only using greenscreen for scenes on Mars, Antarctica and Vietnam, and basic set extensions.

Snyder has only used 'excessive' amounts of CGI for his more fantasy-based movies; 300 and Sucker Punch.

The story of Spartans is more fantasy than Watchmen?

I remember that time, a lot of dragons ended up out of work and had to moonlight as garden patio heaters... Sad.

The comic was, which Snyder tried to make it look like. And I haven't seen Sucker Punch yet, but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a live-action video game/anime type deal.

Wow, this is the most obvious case of not reading my post yet still replying to it and quoting it that I have ever witnessed.

Again, is the Spartans comic more fantasy than the comic called Watchmen?

I had a really strange idea in my head yesterday about the opening of the film. A typical Snyder scene where the visuals are stunning and the world is crumbling around Zod and Superman, but with Nolan tinged dialogue.

A camera angle from below showing a bloodied Zod hovering slightly above ground level in the middle of a crater in Central Metropolis with him holding an equally bruised Clark by the throat whilst chaos ensues.

'Look up into the sky! All you'll see an old world's dream fading into darkness! There is no dawn, Kal-El. The carrion are coming to the promised land.'

Big epic sounds, Clark looks to the ground - cue a life flashes before your eyes style scene of everything good that's come before - he musters up as much strength as he can, breaks free, recoils and he and Zod deliver an almighty thunderclap of a knock-out blow to each other and they get thrown backwards through the buildings behind them which proceed to crumble from the impact.

Fade to black.....cue flashback into the film.

^ I see great visuals, not much fantasy though. Maybe the giant Xerxes and some other exaggerations.

Now, a man can control the atom and lives at the same time in the present, past and future.

Hugely disappointing choice going with Zod. Unimaginative. It takes away from grand scale you could have had with Brainiac.

Maybe they did it for budget reasons but bad choice that IMO will hurt the film at the box office.

Folks come to these films to see huge battle scenes but with MOS it sounds like it'll be not so - just a beefed up SR in the fight scenes.

How is somebody just as powerful as Superman the same as Superman Returns where he didn't fight anything?

One punch, just one, thrown by Superman will beat anything we saw in SR.
