If you're on the 1 DVD at a time plan, you' be saving 2 bucks come September.

"Changing price structure" is just a crap way for them to sneakily charge me more money.

Ugh, I really hate this. I watch more things on instant (obviously) but there's a ton of films that are dvd only, which was the same for alot of films I'd seen over the years through their rental service that became favorites but that I would not have seen otherwise as the one local video store (Hastings) still standing has a bad selection. For me it's a more bang for your buck vs. being able to actually watch everything situation.

The thing that makes me most mad about Netflix right now, is that when I decided to rent one of the oscar nominees this year, I decided to go with The Fighter, so I paid to rent that on Zune. Netflix apparently just added The Fighter to their online catalogue. Why couldn't they have added any of the other oscar nominees, rather than the only one I already paid for? Damn you Netflix!!

Why doesn't Netflix just add a capped streaming option like they do with DVD's?

Keep the existing $9.99 plan. But instead of 1 DVD and unlimited streaming, make it 1 DVD and something like 3 hours of streaming a day. Or however many hours 80% of their streaming users watch in a day. (If what you're currently watching puts you over the limit, you're allowed to finish it, but not stream anything new that day).

From what I've been reading, streaming is the more expensive method of distribution for Netflix, so capping would be logical.

I was on the fence about joining Netflix. As of now with the price hike, I decline.

I'd gladly switch to streaming-only but I want some guarantees in the bargain. First of all, I want new releases to be streaming at the same time the OnDemand services are getting them. Secondly, I want to be assured that nothing will randomly disappear from my Instant Queue and be available only on DVD. I had 7 titles disappear from Instant in the last 2 weeks. 7. Without warning. Pushing Daises and Fight Quest were TV shows that disappeared in that lot, and I was in the middle of watching my way through those.

The Fighter is a great addition to the streaming library, and I applaud them for doing that this week... but how about they get True Grit on there? Why did I have to have The A-Team shipped to my house instead of streamed? Or how about any other movie? If OnDemand can get it done, Netflix can and should. Their streaming selection is pretty weak for newer films even if they TV selection is pretty decent.

If they want to justify this, they need to come up with something better than "this will help ensure the long life of our DVD service." Their costs aren't going up this much and they have said as much. Streaming is actually apparently their big money maker, and they were allegedly losing money on shipping DVDs. The problem being, of course, that they aren't adding anything of value to the bargain. They get more, we get the same old same old.

I want to be able to stream the latest movies to my Blu-Ray player or Xbox360 on the same day someone can pay $5 for them OnDemand. And I don't want a TV series I'm streaming to just disappear from my queue. That would justify a greater cost to the service and encourage me to drop the DVD service entirely. Alas, they haven't given me any such guarantees. They've only told me "you need to pay us more money."

Good thing I'm dropping FIOS as soon as I can work out a cheaper ISP deal and just use my Xbox as my primary entertainment platform.

When you read things like Netflix paying around 100 million dollars to secure the rights to stream all of Mad Men, it's not hard to understand why they need to hike the prices once in awhile.

Netflix's goal is to become a streaming only service, and hopefully this price hike will continue to give them the leverage they need to make all these insanely expensive streaming deals.

And that expense comes from studios who are afraid that they'll lose all their DVD business if they let streaming be cheap.

What they don't seem to understand is that all streaming will replace is DVD rentals, not DVD sales. People are still going to want to buy DVDs. And there are still plenty of people without the ability to stream.

this is freakin stupid of netflix to do to their extreeeeemly loyal customers...
hmm... stick with the ****** streaming movies..which sometimes doesnt even work... or just get movies by mail?..lol

they've officially dropped out of the lead on the rental wars... they're just as dumb as blockbuster was.
now there's more than enough room for rebox,hulu,amazon..even blockbuster etc. to step up...

i really love how those morons think their streaming option is valuable enough right now to charge an extra 5.99 a month for HA!

and what about all those people who now bought those netflix ready devices and 360's for nothing lol

coincidentally i cheated on netflix with blockbuster and red box a day ago. lol

It has been out for a while on select few. If you have Android 2.2 or 2.3 you are good to go now. This not include tablets though.

I switched from the 1 dvd at a time plan to just streaming. However, I'm starting to lose faith the Netflix as now they're losing out on Starz and honestly, their new releases lately have been less than great.

There goes my hope of watching Spartacus season two on Netflix as they premiere.

I switched to just streaming as well. They have seriously dropped the ball in all areas. I am hoping that Amazon continues to beef up their library and gets a PS3 app. I'd drop Netflix in a heartbeat.

What Amazon should do is add their entire TV library to their Prime Streaming & get more recent new shows & I would happily subscribe there. But as of now their Prime selection sucks

It's getting better. It would be a win for me, because I am already paying for it. Make it happen Amazon.

If any online store is killing both Netflix & Amazon in content it is Itunes. Their selection of especially shows is great
