Then there will be a Pentalogy box set. Why not include Wolverine? It's an X-Men movie and it made money on DVD. Poor fan response didn't stop people from going out to buy it. Fox sees that and would probably include it in a hypothetical box set.

X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine were the only ones I noticed that had more special features on Blu Ray than DVD.

Agreed. As mean as it might sound, a few bitter fans on the internet isn't going to have Fox ignore the movie altogether. As far as Fox is concerned, the X-Men series happily includes X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, both of which were large successes for them.

The wolverine IS going to distance Itself from X-Men Origins;Wolverine. Now from leaked script details nothing In Wolverine IS conterdicted.
It gets more troubling with Deadpool. From Lauren Shuller Donner's own comments they are Ignoring wolverine, and In leaked script mock Deadpool's appearance In Wolverine and Hugh Jackman.Yet It IS being called X-men Origins eadpool.Colossus shows up In the script and Xavier Is referenced. So the filmakers themselves to make Deapool part of X-Men film series are saying they are Ignoring Wolverine.Inless they make X4 It will be up for fans to decide rather they view The Last Stand with First Class,X-Men,and X2. I am hoping First Class has a commantary where some of the conterdictry things are addressed. Considering some want First Class to be reboot(which If It were to happen would mean Wolverine would be showing up In sequel) I don't know why Ignoring The Last Stand and Wolverine are mocked. |

The Wolverine, from everything that I know about it, is a completely stand alone film that neither connects to, nor contradicts, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is a stand alone, unrelated story that can completely fit into the existing universe without directly tying itself to other events in it. There are lots of film series out there in which the sequels never directly tie in to their predecessors, but still exist as part of the universe without being considered a "reboot".
As far as Deadpool goes, I don't know anything about a leaked script, what's in it, or how legitimate it is. Quite frankly, from my point of few, the Deadpool universe is far enough removed from the X-Men universe that I would probably look at it as it's own separate film. Whether Deadpool blatantly contradicts X-Men Origins: Wolverine or not, I will see it as a separate continuity, and I certainly won't give any precedence to Deadpool when considering which events are officially part of the X-Men film universe if it does try to contradict.

I'm kinda thinking of the Superman films which just released a blu-ray anthology and had that Ultimate collection set a few years ago...even though Returns ignores parts 3 & 4, the Anthology still includes Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, & Returns..... ...the Bond films, not sure they did it with Quantum of Solace, but after Casino Royale (which is a reboot), they still did a few complete collections sets with CR plus the what (19-20 films in total?) in a complete set... ...again I enjoyed all the films, but you have to think that Fox is a studio/business,...sales wise X3 and Wolverine were successful, but not as critically regarded,-or as well received from the hardcore fans (which I would like to think of myself as-if hating two films makes me a hardcore fan, then I won't be associated with the term), GA loved them......if they do an "Anthology" (that's what I'll call it for now) set it will include all films...regardless of whats in continuity/canon (again myself, I've enjoyed all the films, and would like to consider them all in canon with one another-I can let go of a few of the more obvious things-Moira)...if your going to contradict things from certain films you might as well do it to all the films, and there are things in FC that can contradict X1-X2)...

In response to that, Hellion, the only DVD anthologies that I have seen that have made a clear separation from original series to "reboot" is the Batman movies.
Never once have I seen a Batman set that includes Batman Begins or The Dark Knight alongside the Burton / Shumacher films. I, and I also feel that many people who aren't strict James Bond scholars, have a hard time considering Casion Royale and Quantam of Solice as through and through "reboots" when each movie is pretty much an unrelated, separate installment anyways. I think people in general just consider those movies the "latest" Bond movies, not a "new series". I can't speak for Superman, because, well, I am just so not interested in Superman that I still don't think I've seen the first movie all the way through. I've seen bits of it, but never sat down and just watched it. I only watched Superman Returns because I was so interested in Bryan Singer's next film after his work on the X-Men movies. So I can't comment on how badly that film tosses out 3 and 4. But from the sounds of things, Superman 3 and Superman 4 were Batman & Robin levels of bad, thus the "reboot". I guess what my point is, is that the Batman movies seem like the only "reboot" that is through and through endorsed by everyone involved as not part of the films that came before it. Craig's Bond movies are "just another Bond movie", Superman Returns is loosely part of the original series. As of now, X-Men: The Last Stand is very much an official part of the X-Men film universe in Fox's opinion, and is very regularly found in trilogy box sets with the other 2 movies. And I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the X-Men anthology is out, and very much includes X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine right alongside X-Men: First Class. The Wolverine will fit into that "anthology" as a stand alone film, and who knows about Deadpool.

I'd like to think when TDKR is released, maybe we'll get an updated Anthology with the Burton-Shumacker-Nolan films...(just like the X-FIlms, I've enjoyed the Bat-Films, and due consider myself a Batfan, again, I won't choose sides)...
...I agree with your last point Nell, though, right now all films (X3 and Wolverine included are in the film universe) ...on a side note, am I the only one who collects the different editions of films? Since this has to due with the X-Films, I;ll just mention those...I still have my original X-Men DVD from 2000 (I loved the packaging), the X-Men Collection (1.5 & X2 4-disc set), & the Target Tin Edition of The Last Stand, followed by the Blu-Ray editions of the Trilogy, and Wolverine (technically I have three Wolverine on Blu-the regular edition, the Target edition with the bust, and the Blockbuster edition with a mini-diorama of Wolverine vs Sabretooth)...the two special editions of Wolverine were gifts, so I didn't spend extra $$$ on those...but I will for First Class or a new box set, I here everyone say they get rid of there old editions for the newer releases, I just can't bring myself to do it, too many memories attached to them......

No Hellion, you're not the only one. My X-Men film collection:
*X-Men (VHS) *X-Men (DVD) *X-Men 1.5 (DVD) *X2 2-disc Collector's Edition (DVD) *X-Men: The Last Stand Collector's Edition (DVD - Includes book with 3 of Stan Lee's favorite X-Men issues, plus an original Stan Lee comic written for the DVD) *X-Men: The Last Stand Target Collector's Edition (DVD - Includes Giant Size X-Men #1) *X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2-disc Collector's Edition (DVD) *X-Men (UMD for PSP) *X2 (UMD for PSP) *X-Men: The Last Stand (UMD for PSP) *X-Men (2 disc Blu-Ray) *X2 (2 disc Blu-Ray) *X-Men: The Last Stand (2 disc Blu-Ray) *X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2 disc Blu-Ray) Once I get my new laptop, I will probably also buy the 3 main trilogy films again on DVD, this time the versions with the digital copies. That way I can have all 4 of the movies on the go on either my Windows Phone or my PSP. Hopefully the X-Men: First Class DVD and Blu Ray come with digital copies as well. I don't have the X-Men Collection DVD that has both X-Men and X2, but I really truly hope that when they do have an anthology release of all the movies, that the packaging is like that. I absolutely loved how it came with a booklet that had every character, and a bit of information about them. I would love to see an anthology release with the 5 movies that has a booklet like that that talks about every character in the series. And I agree with you as well, I can't bring myself to part with my X-Men DVD's, even tho I have the Blu-Rays now. I love the packaging of them, and I think I have the same attachment to them that you're talking about.

Can't wait to get this on blu ray... Best film of the summer by a longshot for me. (As of now, that is.)

Just got an email from amazon saying it's ready for pre-ordering so I would imagine a release date for the blu ray everywhere else can't be that far off.
I really want to buy it! I feel shame because I was forced into seeing X3 twice and First Class was much better and I only saw it once so I feel like I owe it. How silly is that?

That sounds like a good set. I'm really looking forward to the Cerebro Mutant Tracker. Including all the mutants in all the films? That sounds badass. And 10 digital comics? Yes please.
If Blu Rays weren't so expensive, I'd buy both covers. I don't know if I can justify getting both tho. Team Charles and Team Erik tho... lmao.

Those covers are GORGEOUS! But I hate when things have 2 different covers. Like when Star Trek had the Spock/Kurt covers. How the hell am I supposed to choose?
