Snyder did say this is the first film he is going to shoot in the real world. As long as his visual flare is there. It will be beautiful.

Well, I dig the vibe I'm getting from Snyder's Superman, stylized or not.

Wasn't really much of a story. It was just a visual feast. And I was all for that...I don't believe a film needs to have a good story in order to be interesting...if it's done in a certain way. And the way Sucker Punch worked as a semi-music video really worked in that way.

Has it been officially stated if this film is going to be shot in 3D or if this is going to be a standard 2D film? All I am asking for is a simple yes or no, I don't want to start a whole pro-3D vs anti-3D war, because that can get pretty ugly.

So glad I was not disappointed with Supe's cape... I figured from the start we'd be getting an awesome cape this time, looking at how flowing the Spartans' capes were told me that.

Looking at Watchmen on TNT right now. Forgot how decent it actually was.

Zack Snyder I think is one of the better directors. He knows how to make movies that look beautiful. "I don't connect with the characters" and all those other complains have to do with the material he is given. He is not writing the movie, so he does the best he can with the material that he has. Visually, I don't think there is a director today that can present images that are so stunning. His movies are beautiful. They look like a living breathing painting.

Clearly you haven't seen a Michael Mann, Spielberg, or a Terrence Malick film if you think he is the best visual artist working today. And that is just Hollywood.

My only concern is, even he has a great script, will he be able to capture the emotions? I think the movie to succeed should be very emotional (not in a cheesy way).

I agree that my main problems with Zack as a director in general (the soundstage-y visuals, the flat storytelling) don't sound like they'll be problems with this film, since it's being written by the Batman Begins team and Snyder has said it's gonna be shot in the real world more than his more recent efforts. My only lingering concern is that I think he's been lacking as a director of actors, so hopefully he'll improve in that regard.
As I've said, I've loved everything I've seen and heard from this film thus far, so hopefully that will continue.

The thing is, Zack put so many great actors in this movie that they'll give a good performance no doubt. But a good director should be able to get great performances out of actors.

Watchmen felt a bit detatched, but I always felt that was intentional.

Even though this is an opinion, I still find it absurd. If we are to limit the candidates down to "mainstream Hollywood", then sure, Zack is up there. But every director out today? Wow. I don't even think he's a likely top 20 for anyone that watches film on a regular basis and broadens their horizons past Hollywood. Zack's visuals are quite pedestrian compared to what is out there.
