i don't think its popcorn entertainment, misunderstood psychological analysis, and batman in a different light, but it isn't popcorn entertainment.

Well that's just like... your opinion man (the Dude) heh heh, anyway I don't take it seriously as many of the fans who have poo-poo-ed the entire thing. I like the weirdness of it and the way Batman behaves. He's certainly isn't all that likeable, but it's an entertaining read every time I pick it up. |

i suppose, I hate morrison and everyone seems to think his stuff much higher then the regular writers. i guess the reverse here. Its just that with millar, he has never had a moment in his life where he wasn't pushing the envelope; Ronin, Sin City, TDKR, Year One, Born Again. It seems odd to me that he would just give upon this project. More likely that it is misunderstood that miller believes in a dark world, you have to be a bit crazy in order to be good.

Exactly. There's no doubt a reason why, and we just haven't heard it. Maybe DC was disappointed with sales... the expected result of putting Lee/Miller together was much greater than the actual outcome perhaps? Hard to say, but I would like to get the ending to it!

Frank Miller did not give up on this project. Frank Miller has clarified that that the release schedule has been so delayed because of Jim Lee balancing multiple projects. He said last year about the release date:
“It depends on Jim,” Miller says of his collaborator, who was just named co-publisher of DC. “He’s got a helluva schedule. It will be February before the next one comes out. We have four or five more, and it’ll wrap it all up. I’ve got it all planned, and you’ll get to the end and go ‘That’s Batman.’” The ultimate goal of Miller’s newest Batman series isn’t to rehash the predictable and expected Dark Knight of the past seventy years, but to give a solid character arc that answers the question “Why the hell does he need a kid around, anyways?” “It’s [about] how he is redeemed through Dick Grayson,” Frank points out. http://www.nycgraphicnovelists.com/2...-pastiche.html Jim Lee explained last year that the delays "had nothing to do with Frank. He's been a prince through this entire process, and I've never had to wait on him. I was swamped with several projects at the same time that went longer than anticipated. I was continually playing catch up. Frank told me in our last meeting that I need to stop, take a deep breath, collect myself and set a realistic date where we could come back out on a regular basis, and that's what we decided to do." http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=25536 Newsarama reported on July, 23, this year, that at the San Diego Comic-Con Jim Lee said he has finished both Dark Knight: Boy Wonder and Batman: Europa pages, but both were put on hold for Geoff Johns' Justice League reboot. Jim Lee says he's hoping next year for both Dark Knight: Boy Wonder and Batman: Europa. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/sdcc...ee-110723.html Comic Book Resources reported that at the San Diego Comic-Con a fan asked if Dark Knight: Boy Wonder would ever see the light of day. Jim Lee assured the audience that the project was still in development, and that it was something he did, in fact, work on. He said he hopes that it might be available "sometime next year." http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=33609 Quote:

The series lost half of its readers from the second issue to its latest? Wow.

Anyone expecting a comic book series to maintain sales of 261,079 copies is being foolish. Many collectors will buy multiple copies of a first issue just to try to invest and sell if they think it will be worth money.
The sales of 94,030 copies from the last issue released is very strong sales by actual readers, out selling any other DC comic book of the month.

Honestly, even if ASB&R was good, it would still lose readers due to the delays.
Not to mention, Man-Bat's point was that ASB&R's sales were good enough to continue the series. Which, they were.

yeah looks like a significant drop from issue #4 to #5... I guess all the "I'm the gottdamned Batman" got everyone tossing the issues over their shoulders (think Ralphie and Randy in A Christmas Story when they get socks)

It lost sales due to the long delay. There was a full year gap in between #4 and #5.

On August 31st Johnny Destructo interviewed Jim Lee at the DC Universe relaunch party at Midtown Comics in Times Square, New York, and asked Jim Lee about Dark Knight: Boy Wonder.
Johnny Destructo: "I know you had spoken recently about ALL-STAR BATMAN & ROBIN...I know it's going to be DARK KNIGHT: BOY WONDER and that they are waiting because they're focusing so much on the (DC Universe) relaunch...but do we have a release date for that yet?" Jim Lee: "No release date yet because once you say something, then you gotta deliver, and JUSTICE LEAGUE is my first priority, deadline-wise. But I actually have pages of ALL-STAR BATMAN & ROBIN done, but it just doesn't make sense to put those out unless I can deliver the rest of the story on a timely basis." Johnny Destructo: "Oh, I thought that DARK KNIGHT: BOY WONDER was already done, it's not done yet?" Jim Lee: "No, no." http://www.aintitcool.com/node/51725

Uh, but Jim, you already did say something, and didn't deliver. Multiple times.

Exactly. All-Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder had multiple release dates that Jim Lee didn't deliver on because he was constantly late with finishing illustrating the issues. Last year Jim Lee set a release date for Dark Knight: Boy Wonder and didn't deliver because he still wasn't finished illustrating all of the issues so he can deliver them on a monthly basis, and he now confirms that he still isn't finished. Jim Lee says, "I actually have pages done, but it just doesn't make sense to put those out unless I can deliver the rest of the story on a timely basis." It sounds like he finished illustrating, I'm guessing, the first two issues of Frank Miller's Dark Knight: Boy Wonder, but still has four more issues to illustrate because he became sidetracked with redesigning costumes for Dan DiDio's DC Universe reboot and illustrating Geoff Johns' Justice League reboot.
Jim Lee again confirmed on twitter on October 10th about the delays, "truth be told--not Frank Miller's fault. Falls 100% on me." http://twitter.com/#!/JimLee

I just wish DC would say that the series is dead and leave it at that.

I had to buy Issue 10 in a comic book shop that still had it, we don't know when the series is complete as Jim Lee is drawing Justice League, maybe they're waiting for 2015 when this comic is 10 years old.
