IGN trends more toward DC. Just accept it. It's not like they're the geek equivalent of the Pope who's word is infallible or anything BS like that. And neither is Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes or what have you for that matter.

Scott Pilgrim should be on there, and very high.
X2, Dark Knight and Spider-man are top 3 in my opinion. Not sure what order. |

marvel won in pretty much every category when ign had that marvel vs dc thing. DC won in animation though, and they deserve it.

Spider-Man 2 does deserve that high ranking, IMO. It's terrific.
Good list overall.

eh, i like spiderman 2, and it is a great comic book movie, but the camp factor detracts from being THE best, at least for me. not saying the dark knight is the best either, though, i would probably go with either superman or or iron man, based on personal preference.

I wouldn't place Superman ll in the top 25 , you could replace that with Batman or The Incredible Hulk IMO
Incredibles is one of the best superhero films but it's not based off a comic. Iron Man should have ranked higher. Kick Ass should of been ranked lower |

Thor deserves a higher rank than Captain America
Turtles Forever is better than the first TMNT movie It saddens me that the first Burton Batman isn't there Incredible Hulk is better than Thor

I'd find some way to put the first Burton Batman film in there, but otherwise I've got no problem with this list.

Spider-man 2 had some campy moments but it was not a campy movie. It is the greatest comic book movie ever made and it has almost everything. The only thing it lacked was Spidey's trademark quips. If it had that too then it would be the perfect superhero movie. I would give it a score of 96 out of 100. It was epic, it had a great villain, the story was superb and very emotional (even religious), the script was written fantastically, characterizations were spot-on, the effects were wonderful (it won an Oscar, right?), the action sequences are still breathtaking (esp. that train sequence) and the performances were really really competent. Overall, it is definitely a much much better superhero flick than that depressing Dark Knight movie.

Hmmm....no Batman (1989), no Batman (1966), no Ghost World....No offense, but the modern Comic movies aren't made very well.

Also IMDB cannot be trusted at all (recently somebody posted some false info on the episodes of the Ultimate spider-Man cartoon there) and as far as I know, nobody takes it seriously So they can both GTFO Last edited by mehrabix; 10-30-2011 at 03:24 AM. |

Oh no, not false info about a Spider-Man cartoon! They must not have any credibility!!!!
Seriously though, most people think BB is better than SM1. Which really isn't a bad thing; they're both good movies. If you think differently, that's great for you. But don't think it's because they dislike Spider-Man or Marvel or something. Thats just dumb. And petty. |

![]() ![]() The best superhero movie is still Superman. The more of these movies there are, the more obvious it is.

Rotten Tomaotoes just collects reviews. They didn't influence all of those reviewers to review the films the way they did.

IGN doesn't own Rotten Tomatoes anymore. They sold the site in 2010 to Flixster. Flixster was bought by Warner Bros. in 2011.

Why? The movie was too damn blurry. ![]() And despite its near pitch perfect portrayal of Superman, and it's pretty adequate version of Lex Luthor, the inclusion of Otis de-legitimized Luthor as a villain. And, I'm sorry, but if you don't have a legitimate villain, you don't have a great super hero movie.

You may simply refer to various forum discussions on this very website to realize that majority of the people here don’t trust IMDB. It seems that the consensus on IMDB is: "IGNORE IT!".
In my humble opinion Batman Begins is the best Batman movie ever even better than the Dark Knight (which I don’t consider as even a decent superhero movie but a really great thriller) but it is not in the first Spider-Man's league and my discussions with many fans confirms this . |

Secondly, what upsets me even more, though, is your statement about TDK. Again, I"m sorry, but I've read numerous Batman comics that have matched TDK quite exactly in terms of tone and content. To say that that isn't a good Batman movie is just showing a lack of knowledge of the source material. Thematically, TDK borrowed heavy from books such as: Gotham Central The Joker War Games All of which were extremely gritty and (mainly) realistic thrillers. And it, quite obviously, directly borrowed plot elements from: Batman #1 The Long Halloween

But that's fine. Everybody is entitled to his/her personal opinion and I have respect for views different from mine. But the fact that metacritic has more credibility than either IMDB or rottentomatoes is well-established. And I am ready to have a long detailed debate with anyone who thinks otherwise. |

Spider-Man 2 doesn't deserve second place. It's only ok. Too much sappy MJ romance in it and Peter moping around moaning about his crappy life for most of it.
All the other rankings are good and deserved. |
