Well I used those Foam rubber craft sheets sold at Craft stores. a Simple back tee and a long sleeve tee shouldn't cost a whole lot. The sheets are 99 cents a piece, cheaper for the thinner sheets.
I might have around 20 dollars wrapped up in the actual shirts and armour. The helmet and Mjolnir together were 32 bucks.
