Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I won't **** on yours any more than I already have. That said, I couldn't disagree with you any more.

Um, Mike agreed with me that he is, indeed, an *******.
Mike's a cool guy. You, however, appear to be prepubescent.

Personally, I agree with all of Mike's complaints (except for the jet pack....that was just campy fun, IMO), but they don't decrease the quality of the film in my eyes as much as they do in his.
While the comic's definitely better, and there is some stupid stuff in the movie that didn't need to be there, it's still captures the hilarity and absurdity of the comic enough to be one of the better comic book movies out there. |

But it's true. Kick-Ass the movie is much better. Superman the Movie is better than any Superman comic ever published. Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton improved Batman, Catwoman, Penguin, Joker et al.

I don't think anyone has improved Batman from the comics yet.
BTAS has come closer than any movie.

It's perfectly possible for a movie to be better than the source material (Blade or The Crow would be some great examples). Kick-Ass and STM are not at all good examples, IMO, but it's definitely possible for the movie to be better.

Nolan did do some great things with the Joker, but the Joker has already had so many different interpretations, I really don't think you can "do" the Joker better purely because he's had nearly every possible characterization he could have in the comics already. Burton's Penguin was infinitely more interesting than the comics version. However, it was also a perversion of the comic character in many ways. If I were a fan of the character, I'd probably be offended by the Burton version. Catwoman was probably most improved by the Adam West TV series. That show really highlighted the best attributes of the character. And lastly, BTAS definitely improved Mr. Freeze by leaps and bounds. As for Batman himself...I personally wouldn't say either Nolan or Burton improved anything. They just did good jobs highlighting aspects of the character that had already been apart of the comics for years.

I remember IGN's top 25 Batman stories and they got it right with TLH (The Long Halloween) as # 1
I will recommend what I was originally told to read from the beginning. 1. The Watchmen 2. Batman Year One 3. Sandamn Vol. 1 Preludes and Nocturnes

Honestly, someone who thinks Nic Cage's Adam West impression in Kick Ass is a bad thing, you have no soul or funny bone. It was an inspired bit of improv from Cage. It was funny and it made sense to the character. He's a middle aged man who is a fan of comics, which means he used to watch the old 60s Batman show. Him using that as his "superhero voice" is genius. It makes Big Daddy a more fully realised and three dimensional character.
And Kick Ass the movie is better than the comic because it's not ridiculously cynical and borderline mean spirited towards the fanbase that it's aimed for. It still has the satire/deconstruction elements, but it's also a loving tribute to the genre in all it's forms. For example, Kick Ass is the more optimistic "silver age" hero, Hit Girl/Big Daddy are the more cynical, "grimdark" anti heroes of the 90s. |

I pretty much agreed with a lot of that list until #1 and # 2. also dredd definitely belongs on that list.

While I'd switch the placement of a few in the top 10 (like TDKR and Avengers), I mostly agree with the list. Though I'd put Kick-Ass way higher.
