I saw the movie the day it came out, and it was the first and only movie I've seen in a drive-in.

They're both sci-fi adventure movies, they both have dramatic and comedic elements. I don't see what's so different about them.

I was a pastor's kid and it was deemed too violent. I watched it with parental supervision when it came out on VHS. I remember the original VHS having an intro from Daffy Duck talking about a Warner Brothers ball cap.

Yeah, I made a slight reference to that in TDKR forums, and NOBODY picked up on it.

Back to the Future has an entirely different structure to it that doesn't need a threatening antagonist to suceed. A superhero movie, however, is quite different.

I saw Batman and Batman Returns multiple times in the theaters. It's been too long to remember just how many times.
What I can remember clearly is owning Batman on VHS (one of my first VHS tapes) and watching it every day for two solid weeks after I developed a bad case of mononucleosis.

Me too.
Me too. First movie for me in theatres to be exact. Me too. Me too but my B89 party came the next month after it was released when I turned 4. My b-day is in July too, buddy ... July 29th to be exact. I remember after I saw B89 for the first time in theatres, my dad took me to TRU. I copped the Toy Biz movie figures (Batman, Joker, and Bob the Goon) ... got the Batmobile and Batwing on the same day. Heaven. Went home, ran around with the kids in the neighborhood with a beach towel pinned around my neck pretending to be the Batman. haha ... ahh, nostalgia. Shame I broke that Joker soon after. I was doing the scene of him on the bell tower, and I dropped him like at the end when he falls to his death ... dropped him from the balcony of the 2nd floor to his grim demise on the tile floor below where his leg cracked off. haha I got the VHS a few months later, and proceeded to wear it out the next several years. B89 and TMNT (1990) the most watched movies for me as a kid of all-time. With Ghostbusters, and Top Gun following right at their heels. Last edited by GothamLegend; 01-03-2012 at 06:56 PM. |

Unfortunately I didn't get to see Bats 89' in theatres. I was 3 years old when it came out. I did get to check out Batman Returns when it was released though. It was probably only the 2nd or 3rd movie I had ever watched in a movie theatre. Great experience. I didn't pick up on any of the more adult content then, just thought it was awesome watching Batman. I like seeing what the reaction was like for these movies original releases when I wasn't even old enough to know exactly what a movie theatre was.

Does anyone else remember the Joker action figure that if you put his face in warm water it would go white?

Hehe, yeah, that was accompanied by the Batman figure that had a very short stringed "belt-a-rang?".

I think I had that one. I definitely had a Keaton Bruce Wayne action figure. I think it came with other things. But it came with the Batcave cause my cousin had that.

I was 9 years old and yeah, i saw it in the theater. I have seen every Bat film at the cinema sans 66 and the serials of course. Anyone remember the crappy Toy Biz B89 figures? I was always disappointed that the promo photos on the card backs were all repaints of Super Powers molds by Kenner but the actual figures were crappy original designs. Kenner's line was vastly superior while utilizing the Super Powers mold as a base with a Keaton head scuplt and the neck scallops from the cowl and film accurate utility belt. My favorite figure of all time is still the comic paint Bat Winch Batman. I miss those cloth capes. Joker was similar with Kenner, Super Powes base with Nicholson head. Loved it. Hilarious that they never did a Devito Penguin. The closest the came was BTAS.
Anyway... loved every minute of 89. |
