The other real problem is that they aren't doing an origin movie. Origin movies are good, they introduce a whole new audience to the character. And it works quite well since Superman has one of the greatest origin stories of any hero.

Superman hasn't been in theaters since Superman Returns in 2006, and then 1987 before that. How is that overexposed?

Furthermore, Man of Steel is an origin film.
