I was just trying to pick a movie to watch and when I suggested JAWS, my three friends ALL responded with, "Its boring."
None of them have seen the movie since they were children, and refuse to watch as adults. So I called it, a retarded movie opinion. Whats the most retarded opinion of a movie you've heard?

Holy cow a thread made for me! My friends hate EVERYTHING. If the film was made before 2001, it's crap. If a film is liked by any sort of nerd, it's crap. If a film isn't packed with action non-stop, it's crap. If a film requires any kind of thought or is any kind of dramatic, it's crap. The list goes on and on. They hate EVERY film (or damn close). They honestly think the Transformers films to be the height of what film-making should be.

A friend who kept insisting the "heist gone wrong" and shootout in Heat was "gratuitous." I felt like pulling out a dictionary and reading out the definition of "gratuitous" for his benefit.

Here it goes, my friends think The Devil Inside was great and much better than The exorcist, also they say Transformers 3 should have got a Best Picture nom and that The artist is complete **** and Hugo is silly, boring and for little kids.
I need to find new friends....lol |

This thread makes me sad. I always wondered who film studios catered to. Now I know.

I feel sorry for you guys, lucky for me I don't have any friends.
![]() But my co-worker won't go to see The Dark Knight Rises because she hates Anne Hathaway which I don't see how since the movie isn't even out yet and we don't know how Anne will act.

I have regular arguments with a friend of mine over the Transformers films. Basically, he thinks they're good.

Some of my friends still think Adam Sandler is funny.
They've never been heard from again.

Not really an opinion, I guess, but I have a friend who loves Kick-Ass and wants the sequel to be directed by Tarantino, and lets us know anytime the movie is brought up.

Films having children in bigger roles or focusing on boys/girls in their pre-teens days or the first couple of their teenage years (13-14), and not have them behaving like older teens (close to 20)......
....is kids' flics. Last edited by Airwings; 02-26-2012 at 04:26 AM. |

My roommates praise, like, critically praise the live-action GI Joe film, and honestly didn't see anything corny about the villains being put into giant bird cage prisons at the end of the film.
My ex-friend's favorite move of ALL...take-this-in...ALL TIME is the live action SPEED RACER>>>

Not responding to you but since Avatar has been brought up , it's retarded to hate something based on it's popularity. It's one thing to hate a movie based on the fact that it's actually bad and in no way entertaining whatsoever but to hate something that it's okay-good purely based on it's popularity is stupid. Generally speaking , over time people's taste in films changes. You start to appreciate /understand movies better . Quote:

![]() Recently when Episode 1 was rereleased in 3-d a whole new generation of kids saw the movie and loved it. People who grew up with the original trilogy often have a dislike for the prequels yet kids love 'em. Speed Racer is a fun movie. I personally wouldn't watch it everyday but i've watched it a couple of times with my nephews and they loved every second of it.

I still can't get over my old housemate saying Drive was boring and too slow... We usually have such similar taste!
Though in fairness to him, he did say he was pretty tired and a little drunk so he'd be willing to give it another try

This thread is great! I've got a friend whose favorite actors are Adam Sandler and Vin Diesel. I told him Vin Diesel always plays the same role and he said that The Pacifier was different from his other movies because it was a comedy
Then he said Pulp Fiction was s*** without even seeing it.

Upon seeing Drive at the cinema my friend said it was "alright". After a mutual friend called it amazing the first friend commented saying it was "an instant classic". It's fair to say he had time to reflect and changed his opinion but when I questioned him about his differing views he claimed it was only a classic "within it's genre"...
What does that even mean!? It's a classic in the genre of what?.. car films? Films about loners helping someone they have a connection with? When you compare it with say, Cassablanca, it's no longer or classic? He also thought that Tinker Tailor Soldier (Zzzzzzzzzzzz) Sailor was amazing and that because so many professional critics praised it, it's one of the best films ever. I agreed it was well put together and stuff but it was just boring.
