Anyone think they might shed some light on TASM2? No footage or anything, obviously, but just some possible ideas and whatever.

Actually, I think they can shed some ideas. They're already planning the second movie, so they might know what villain(s) they're going to use next time and where they're heading with the story.
SM2's production began almost immediately after SM1, so I see it happening again.

Only idea they'd shed is the sequel being there

Goblin has to be the villain in TASM3, so who should be the villain in TASM2? Also, you guys think it can go beyond a trilogy? |

I wouldn't mind seeing 2 villains for the second movie.
But that depends on the story and on what they want to explore after Peter's parents backstory.

I would love for them to go six movies for TASM. Even if they have to use different actors for the last three movies.

Hmm I'm not sure. I expected "The Amazing Spider-Man", so that wasn't a shock. It was the right choice because that's what he's most commonly known as, the equivalent of The Dark Knight, or Man of Steel. I'm a Raimi Spider-Man fan, but Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 type titles were predictable and safe. This one is a bit as well, but at least it's a title without a number after it, as it's the first in the reboot. I'd like something that is undeniably Spider-Man, but can stand on its own two feet - Tangled Web or something for example. Where you genuinely don't know what it's going to be called.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Electro, not taken seriously? What makes you think it'll be that easy to take Electro down in the movie? This is the same guy who can zap water before it even touches him and instantly vaporize it. That's not even mentioning the protective suit he might be wearing in the movie. Don't you think that Webb and co. will have the intelligence to think about the water problem early on and deal with it accordingly? I think so.

It just really doesn't fit with this realistic tone they have going for TASM. If you had electric powers, wouldn't you have precautions to prevent things like water shorting you out? Seems like something an actual person would think of because that's the obvious thing to do. I know Max isn't that bright, but still.

I honestly don't think we're going to see any "fantastical" type villains (Electro, Mysterio etc...) while Webb is at the helm. That's just the vibe I'm getting from this.

There should be 4 films.
Green Goblin alongside a minor henchmen viilain should be the villain in the 2nd w/ an "apparent death". Venom should be the villain in the 3rd. Venom (w/ possibly Goblin and others) should be the villain again in the 4th with a symbiote takeover plot w/ Spidey's ambiguous (dead or alive?) end .

Venom isn't going to happen. He's too otherworldly for this particular take on Spider-Man and he was already used in Raimi's version.
In my opinion.

Why would he be too otherworldly for this take?

Webb seems to be riffing on the whole realism thing Nolan established. That's why.

Yes. I can see that. That's why we have a 9ft Lizard running around, terrorizing the city.

If they go the USM route, then that would be a realistic enough take on the symbiote storyline imo. However saying that, though I would like to see the whole Symbiote and Venom storyline again at some point, I do NOT want to see it in this reboot. It's way too soon after Raimis and the most important villain that needs to be retread is the Green Goblin.
Same with Electro, I would LOVE to see Electro on the big screen, and I do think that they can make Electro quite realistic, in the way he gets his powers, it just needs good writing. However I can see Mysterio being in this franchise (via being an illusionist maybe) and Chameleon.

What do you think about Scorpion being in one of these films?

There's really only so many classic Spiderman villains you can use. Raimi's already used 4. (Venom,Goblin,Sandman, Doc Ock). So how many more options do they really have before they move onto Electro? I know Spidey has a lot of villains but Electro's another fan favorite who seems like an obvious choice for the sequel to me. I also really want to see Kraven show up but I doubt that's going to happen.

The only problem is if they use Electro, then the GA will undoubtedly cast comparisons to Dr. Doom around as they used him in both Fantastic Four movies. Then again that camparison will probably happen regardless.
