Did anyone se Batman Returns in theaters?

I was 13, I think. I was entertained enough, but also felt drained. I felt Batman in cinema had hit a dead end. That was the only time I saw it in the theater. Subsequent home viewings over the years has made me like it even less, even though I do dig the art design and the chemistry between Batman and Catwoman.

Edit: Did the math and I was about 5 months away from 15, actually. Jesus, I'm old.

But Catwoman is still hot to me in any version (minus the Sinead O'Conner version from Year One comics).

I saw it at the theater on it's first day of release. I would have been four years old at the time. A couple of years before that, my love for movies and, of course, my love for Batman started when my dad bought me the 1989 film on VHS. From that point on, we really began to bond over Batman. As young as I was, I can still remember how hyped I was for that movie and I think my dad was quite excited, too. I can definitely remember us trying to collect all of the cups from McDonald's and getting all of the Happy Meal toys. It wasn't the first movie I saw in theaters (that was TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze), but it's the first movie I can remember being old enough to be excited for.

Anyway, that whole experience was special to me and it still is to this day. We went to the theater on that day and had a great time together. I really liked the theater we went to. It was my favorite just because of how small, but nice it was. It felt like a small town theater. I remember getting a booklet in the lobby, too. Some sort of program about Batman Returns. Had a bunch of pictures and interviews, I think. Just felt like a complete experience. Loved every moment of it.

I saw the first two Burton Batman films in theaters and liked them both. I esp. remember going to McDonalds after seeing Batman Returns and getting a Batman cup with my large soda. But I think the film was actually premiered in Pittsburgh because I remember seeing it on the local news,Micheal Keaton being a local boy and all.

Ha! So awesome. If I remember correctly they "scratched" easily and the graphics came off after a few washes. I'm also pretty sure I never owned the Penguin or the Batmobile one.

I was 7 - It hailed buckets that night, my Aunt got pelted really bad.

But the film was amazing, it still stands up, and the Blu ray transfer is really good.

As for the McDonalds cups, I think I had the Penguin one where he's riding the duck, The penguin was the best thing ever at the time. And I was fascinated by the circus afterwards.

The Batman Returns comic, and Batman '89 baseball cards were also things I had to have.

I was about to turn 4 when it came out. I didn't see it in theaters, even though I had all of the Happy Meal toys. I caught it when it premiered on HBO a year later. In fact, it might have been the first Batman movie I saw since I can't recall watching B89 until after that. I was really into it. It kickstarted my interest in Batman because after that I was all about the animated series. I remember only being freaked out at the nose-biting scene. I covered my eyes at that scene whenever I watched it until I was like 7. But to this day, I don't think anything in Returns was as disturbingly creepy as Joker frying the guy with the electric buzzer in B89.

I was 9. I remember it raining when we got out of the theater. The downbeat nature of the ending (well, really the whole movie) and the gloomy rain outside gave me a very depressed and sad feeling as my family drove away from the theater that I can still remember to this day.

i was 18 when i saw this in the theater....ended up going 3 times overall....

i was SO hyped for this,it couldn't live up to my expectations,and while good/great, i still consider the first one better....

i,too,had all the cups,toys,posters,shirts,etc....still wish i did!

I was 4 when I first saw it on VHS. I'll never forget it as I was in Hospital all week getting my tonsils out and the day I got home, my mom had bought it for me as a get better soon gift.

With a big bowl of ice cream to soothe my throat.

Simpler times.

I saw Batman 89 in an outdoor theater and BF and B&R in theaters. My parents wouldnt let me see Batman Returns, even years after it came out on video.

I have very vague memories of seeing it. I remember more going on the Batman Returns ride at Warner Bros. Movieworld on the Gold Coast.

Did anybody get the feeling that they were burned out after Batman Returns? I mean for me I'm still a Batman fan but back then it was all about X-Men, Spider-Man and Image comics that for awhile there I stopped buying Batman comics until the Knightfall saga of course.

Not really no. I could never get into most Image stuff just really the WildC.A.T.s. and early Spawn but Batman comics were my most anticipated around this time always. They were in their modern age prime under Grant/Breyfogle and more entertaining to me than any Marvel book.

Knightfall actually turned me off after it wrapped up; I found the whole event to be pretty uneventful. So much so that I sold all those comics on Ebay years later though I learned to appreciate the story more later on. I would actually buy an Absolute version of the thing if released today.
