Nice to see that CA is getting a sequel. It puts to rest the fears of some who were worried there wouldn't be a sequel. As far as setting, I'm glad it's in the present but I feel that the threat he faces will have some roots in his past, which means some possible WWII flashbacks.

Given Feige's recent words about the project, it could be Ant Man.

But personally for me it should be Black Panther as he has so much to offer in solo films as well as expanding the Avengers roster. Not to mention he'd be able to play off the other members. With Cap crossing his grandfather in WW2, with Tony, both being two of the smartest men in the MU, Vibranium, etc.

With Ant Man though it could mean Ultron.

I get what you're saying, however, the first weekend in May slot is the prime slot of the year. If they had to select one for April and another for May, they're choosing Ant Man over Cap for May??? That doesn't make any sense.

If it was going to be Cap & (Ant Man/Black Panther) for the 2 Marvel 2014 movies, you'd think Cap would get the cherry May spot and the other would get the April spot.

I didn't think it was going to shake out this way, but I'll bet you that Avengers 2 will be announced for the May 2014 slot. Once the upcoming movie is out of theaters, they'll announce it. OR they're waiting to gauge audience reaction to the Hulk and will release Hulk 2 (recanting previous comments about having no plans to do a sequel).

I assume you're referring to Gabe as T'Challa's grandfather? Is that the case? I didn't know that.

If its not Avengers 2, the smart money would be on Doctor Strange (Marvel is close) or Ant Man (like you said), at the moment. But that could change.

What I do know is, they're looking to expand the Avengers' roster in the sequel, so you probably will see the Falcon in the Cap movie and again in Avengers 2, and maybe some others with cameos in the movies before Phase 2 concludes.

Yeah, They would most definitely want all the Thunder they can get for whichever movie they give us, especially if its introducing a new character into the MCU

i hope they save the WS until later. I'd like so see Steve deal with being in the present day and being isolated than him fighting someone else from WW2. Kind of how the Superman is diminished when Supergirl, a monkey, a horse, a dog and a city of miniaturized kryptonians all survived

Marvel Studios' release dates that year are early April (Cap 2) & first weekend in May.

I read yesterday that the unusual release date for Cap 2 (you'd assume the tentpole movie, Cap, would be May & the new franchise would be April) is because Marvel Studios intends that it lead into the May release, whatever that is.

So with Nick Fury's involvement in Cap 2, the smart money is that Cap 2 will lead into a SHIELD movie in May, or an Ant Man movie in May (who, in Edgar Wright's script is a SHIELD spy).

There's also speculation that Marvel could release THREE movies in 2014 (one more in either June or the Fall), and that those most certainly will be Cap 2, SHIELD, & Ant Man, all directly leading into Avengers 2 in 2015).

Nah, Hugo Weaving should be redeemed for having a better outing in the sequel. Unless Hugo rescinded the contract, Skull should get a second go.

+ Winter Soldier as one of his goon squad, of course. Or Crossbone.

The Bourne movie should be the tone of the sequel. Quick gritty action filled movie with an emphasis of hands-on ass kicking. I don't mind more firearms and less shield hurling.

It seems like only yesterday that some folks on the Hype were swearing up and down that CA:TFA would never get a sequel. Actually, it was the day before yesterday.


I was happy to read that Cap will be staying with SHIELD as that follows what happened after he was found by The Avengers in the 616 universe. Steve hooked up with Nick Fury's superspies and worked with them for quite some time, fighting the Red Skull, Zemo, Strucker, HYDRA and A.I.M. If they use those villains it opens up possibilities for WWII flashbacks and a more intricate mini-universe for Cap to inhabit. They can also bring in Sharon Carter, though I hoe the character is less boring than she was in the comics. A host of other SHIELD agents are also available for use.


All in all, I'm thrilled with the outlook for Captain America's future. My only concern is the choice of a director, but Marvel has done well with that so far. Nolfi is my preference, but I'm sure they'll find the right person and give him the guidance needed to do the sequel justice.

I'd do Baron Zemo for this one and then for the 3rd one have RS return with Crossbones

imo, watching TFA again, though I loved it, it just felt rushed. the build up to Rogers becoming Cap was great, but after that, its like they couldn't wait to get to the Avengers clip of him waking up. Watching it again, all i keep seeing is 'avengers avengers avengers' and I don't blame that on Weaving or Evans..

Red Skull is Cap's arch-nemesis and hopefully he will get another go(with weaving attached) at some point in time to make up for it.
