Wtf Inception ending are you lot serious?
Pfft Can't believe no one's said these: Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Even before he's lowered into the Molten Lava the bit where he says to John Connor; "I know now why you cry... but it is something I could never do" is just a tear jerking moment in itself. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - Epic ending for an under-rated movie. Very well done and one for the open minded. E.T. The Extra-terrestrial - All time saddest moment and even now tear jerking, thank god they haven't made a sequel that's probably why the film is still so epic! A.I. - When they bring back the boys mother for one day right at the end is very very surreal and dream like and has a very deep sad feeling to it, specially since there are no humans left, a brilliant brilliant very deep and sad ending. Starman - Jeff Bridges returns home but leaves Jenny, a romantic and sad ending even now years later the relationship they build over the course of the film only for that ending is heart breaking! Alien 3 - For an exceptional ending to an awesome Trilogy of films, the 3rd film very under-rated and misinterpreted because of it's very dark under tones and gully look. One of the best dark films of all time. Knowing - When Nicholas Cage realizes that giving up the only thing he loves most in the world his Son to protect him from the coming events to the earth is very touching and seems like a very real response, could you give up a child like that? Specially in those circumstances, you would be so confused. Excellent touching ending. Leon: The Professional - When Matilda plants his best friend and "Shape of my Heart" begins to play I actually welled up the first time. Pans Labyrinth - When Ofelia dies at the end, the haunting music that plays is just mockery to your senses and has to make you well up unless you were born in a prison. Brother - When Takeshi "Beat" Kitano dies at the end to the Mafia and the music by Joe Hiasashi plays out. Marvellous movie! There are more but these are the only ones that come to mind for now.

![]() I forgot one though. Once upon a forest - the furlings find that their parents are killed by poison gas (Specifically the bit where Edgar the mole says about the fact his last words to his mother weren't nice)

Dumbo says goodbye to his mom... Sad.
Disney knows how to tug those heart strings. And this is probably only me: Corpse bride- tears to shed song. I'm just a huge Burton fan.

There are only 3 I can think from the top of my head that did cause my eyes to well up:
1. John Q - Scene right before he is going to commit suicide to save his son's life, goes up to the hospital bed and gives his son the last life lessons before he goes off to kill himself. Thanks to amazing acting by Denzel Washington 2. Requiem for a Dream - The dream sequence where Sara Goldfarb dreams a happy fantasy world where everyone loves her, she feels accepted by the world, and she gets to hug her son and tells him that she loves him. Except in realty she has driven herself mad and is in a psychiatric ward 3. Shawshank Redemption - When Brooks goes out to the real world and finds that it has changed so much from since he first entered prison. He tries to adapt but fails miserably. He realizes he is old and all alone and commits suicide. So much sadness

Return of the Jedi (Luke defeats Vader). Not because the scene was sad or anything but I remember watching the movie with my father after my aunt had passed not long before. She was his favorite sister and after Luke went off on Vader I saw my father tearing up and trying his best to keep from crying. I never asked him about it but I knew that scene probably triggered a memory of his sister and he couldn't hold it in. Every time I see that scene I think about that moment and it makes me tear up a bit.
E.T. - I just watched it on AMC a month ago and the ending still got to me. Toy Story 3 ending Spider-man 2 - train scene w/passengers and the last 3 minutes of the movie. The Incredibles - "I'm not strong enough" |

Certain parts of The Shawshank Redemption. The ending especially; it's one of the most earned happy endings I've seen, on up there with It's a Wonderful Life.
The ending to The Green Mile, for the exact opposite reason. Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Darabont absolutely sold the execution scene.

Seriously a few:
-Mufassa dying in The Lion King -Old Yeller dying in Old Yeller (between that and Bambi one must ask why parents want to inflict their childhood trauma on the next generation? )-Michael forgiving Fredo at their mother's funeral, even as he secretly plans to murder his own brother in The Godfather Part II. -The ending to The Phantom of the Opera (more powerful on stage, but it still worked in the movie). -The ending to Sweeney Todd (y'know musicals can be depressing! )-Leon dying in Leon and Mathilda being alone in the world...again. -Oscar Schindler seeing the girl in the red coat in Schindler's List. -Tom Hanks's final words in Saving Private Ryan. -William Wallace crying "Freedom!" before he sees his wife again in Braveheart (though that could just be James Horner's music). -The last 10 minutes of Glory. -Rhett walking out on Scarlett in Gone with the Wind's finale (though she REALLY deserved it). -Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt realizing they've lost the loves of their lives even though they're right there in Cast Away (I know it's a corny movie, but that part still gets me). There are more, but I'm getting all emotional right now.

The Land Before Time that scene where Littlefoot is sitting by himself right after his mother had died, and the baby pterosaur tries to cheer him up by giving him a cherry....**** me that destroys me every time
![]() Meet Joe Black when Bill says his goodbyes to his daughters, and when Joe finally takes him into the afterlife. Thats one of the most optimistic death scenes I've ever seen. Warrior "You Godless Bastards!" Nick Nolte absolutely killed it in that scene, the whole movie we hear about how horrible he was and how much his sons hate him, but actually seeing the him in that state, and seeing Tommy's reaction to it really felt like a punch in the gut to me. Amazing. WarHorse Topthorn's death, as well as that speech Emilie's grandfather gives about the nature of bravery. Really inspiring. Peter Jackson's King Kong pretty much the entire last 20 minutes, the performance of Andy Serkis' career in my opinion. Last edited by Oberon sexton; 04-10-2012 at 12:04 AM. |

When Sam tells Frodo he can't carry the ring, but he can carry him in ROTK.
When JGL's character freaks out in the car and when he talks to his parents before going into surgery in 50/50 The ending of Saving Private Ryan "Why do we Fall Bruce" line from Alfred near the end of BB. When all of the Jedi are being killed and Yoda falls to his knee in pain in ROTJ I'm sure there are plenty more I am forgetting.

I loved the original, non-musical, serious Land Before Time as a kid and still think it's a solid family movie. Then they ruined the series by making those awful sequels into stupid musicals and milked it for all it was worth with all those singing dinosaurs.
