I remembered getting the first one on sale but I didn't like the controls so I've never bothered to play it again. I'm surprised that a third installment is coming let alone a second did, was the sales that good?

The first one was okay in a "The Xbox 360 has only been out for a year, so there aren't that many good games for it, but I still need to play something." sort of way.

The sequel is atrocious from what I've heard.

Ok damn, for some reason I thought they would be not too bad. Will wait for some gameplay footage of LP3 in that case.

The first one was decent but the second one was pitiful. Id be fine if they let that series die

And this is being developed by Spark Unlimited, they did Legendary and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, I haven't played those but the games did get a poor reception.

Wrong my dear Soapy. I enjoyed both Lost Planet games. I admit the second one was a bit of a let down, but no less funner than the first.

I didn't expect a third game though. I thought Capcom said a while back that they weren't going to make a third. I remain weary though...The developers of this game made Turing Point: Fall of Liberty...

Isn't that like one of the worst games ever made?

Lost Planet 3 Trailer Stays Frosty

Capcom has released a new trailer for Lost Planet 3.
This one is story heavy, focusing on the protagonist’s isolation and eventual discovery of the icy planet’s secrets. Turns out there’s a whole bunch of nasty looking monster things running around. Surprise!
With nods to Danny Boyle’s Sunshine, Duncan Jones’s Moon, plus a bit of Aliens and a lot of Dead Space - based on this trailer Lost Planet 3 may just have a decent recipe for success.
Have a look at the trailer below. The game is out early next year.

As a prequel to Capcom's ice-cracking shooter series, Lost Planet 3 will disintegrate the mysteries that have dogged us since 2006's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Why do the snarling inhabitants of planet E.D.N. III insist on flaunting their weakpoints? Why don't astronomical objects stop and ask for directions? How did the condition get so ... extreme?

We'd rather not spoil any of that, so instead we'll show you the game's warm protagonist, his big bipedal rig and the on-foot combat in our new video preview.

Lost Planet 3, developed by Spark Unlimited, is due on August 27 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC
