Would have thought it would be cooler if:

Vanko used the RT tech to develop weapons for Hammer that resulted in different effects: highly intense heat weapon for a "Melter lackey" and a freeze weapon ("Blizzard Lackey"), as well as the electrical one for a "Whiplash lackey". Hammer would pit these 3 goons up againts Stark, only to be taken out in a nice first battle. It would preserve Hammer's multiple henchmen-villains from the "Demon.." storyline.

Whiplash's electrical tech would later be improved/incorporated into the Crimson Dynamo armor for Vanko himself to fight Tony at the end. I guess it would be too many villains, but its not like the first 3 ever had a very deep history to start.

And you're saying that based on what? Mickey Rourke said flat out that Marvel interfered with Favreau on Iron Man 2. That may just be one mans word, but it's a pretty big coincidence then that a big chunk of IM2 seems to corroborate him.

Initially I was disappointed, but unlike ALOT of films - it actually gets BETTER everytime I watch it.

Especially now that the Thor and Captain America movies are available and you can see the ties between everything in the MCU.

I think it's underrated and definitely serves a purpose in the movie continuum. It has some slow parts but overall I think it ties everything together quite well and all actors do a fine job with what they've been given.

Yeah I've noticed that too, that's why I think people are FAR to harsh on it.

I didn't like IM2 much. It was okay but it felt very disjointed.

I didn't care for it, but if we didn't have it, then the Avengers movie would have to also address IM1's ending with Stark being exposed to the world. So in a way, it's kind of good it happened. We already have a lot going on with Cap's story, Thor/Loki's, Banner/Hulk, etc.

I like IM2, it's better when viewed in the frame work of the other films for me, only issue I still have to this day is the final battle being waaaay too short.

Battles in almost all the Marvel movies have been short so it's not just IM2 where that occurred, although the final battle with Vanko has to be the shortest main villain fight ever though.

I thought Thor's battle with Loki was decent since there wasn't much "fluff" once they actually started fighting, there were no long pauses in between the action.

I really disliked Iron Man 2 when I saw it on the cinema....however after multiple viewings it got a lot better. It was very, very flawed but for what we got with SHIELD and Howard I liked it.

Plus BW was winning

Yeah, after the drones, I was thinking 'man, how are they gonna top that?'. And then Tony and Jim did a power high five and that was it.

I never got the absolute hatred for this movie. Seems to me that it certainly had its flaws but overall it was very enjoyable. I cringe during the "DJ fight" scene but other than that it was a fun ride. I am hoping Shane Black can really deliver with Iron Man 3.

IM2 was not good at all. But it wasn't complete garbage. It was just ehhhhhhhhh... in the long run, one 'eh' movie out of 5 isn't bad at all. Loved suitcase armor in monaco

Suitcase armor was totes one of the best scenes, another two that stand out to me are the scene where Tony makes Pepper CEO and the scene where he discovers the element in the Expo's wireframe. Those are the main two moments that really capture the heart and "magic" feeling of the first one to me.

I feel like they really had something with the Expo/element storyline (which is ironically the one that seems most tied to the Avengers), but pretty much mailed it in when it came to the stuff with Whiplash/War Machine/Black Widow. There were too many threads that unfortunately didn't tie together the way Favreau insisted they would.
