Unfortunately neither Hulk movie did very well at box office. Marvel isn't going to put a lot of money into a franchise that doesn't deliver big returns. I think the first Hulk movie kinda poisoned the well for the second.

Well that sounded more like a "not right now"
Between everything else on their plate it makes sense that hulk sequel won't be a priority. they need to seriously sit down and discuss the future of the character. I can't imagine them not, making one if people want one and we already know that ruffalo is willing to do a sequel. Would you rather they rush it? When do you want it? No script, no director. Best bet 2015 close to avengers sequel, remind public of hulk and lead into avengers 2. Enough time to work out the kinks |

If Incredible Hulk was the Hulk movie we got back in 2003, we'd probably would have already had two sequels by now.

1) Planet Hulk 2) World War Hulk 3) As a supporting character to a She-Hulk Movie |

1)Planet Hulk would be huge risk and the cost alone would be staggering.
2) World War Hulk was basically about the Hulk beating up the marvel universe. Not exactly movie material. |

Agreed. Last think we need is Hulk as hypocritical megalomaniac-turned-epically random Christ figure.

We need to use The Avengers and the new Hulk love to get a massive internet campaign going for TIH II. Screw the TV show.
Ruffalo will give us a hand as well.

So they finally made the Hulk look, act, the way he should, and finally got the right reaction from fans, and instead of pursuing a solo film franchise that might actually make money they drop it?
I think it probably has more to do with the studio being afraid of Hulk being in a film on his own. His 1st 2 films didn't do so well in making money. So they are afraid that on his own he wont make money, and that it would take the Avengers to help him make money. And maybe they didn't sign Mark Ruffelo (spelling?) on for more than 3 Avengers films, and that could also have something to do with the studio thinking Hulk wont make money without the Avengers. Little do they realize that the Hulk didn't make money in the 1st film because it was a bad, jumbled, story that wasn't the style of the Hulk. The second was closer, but because of the lack of success from the 1st film the studio didn't have as much confidence in it, and neither did the audience. But I don't think he was saying no all together, and that there would never be another Hulk. I think he was just saying at this time there are no talks to do it. But maybe with the success of the Avengers they will do a few spin offs like Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and probably a Hulk film. |

I understand their angst about another Hulk movie. Plus, the longer they hold off, the bigger the clamoring from people will be in regards to a hulk movie in the future.
It's Marvel, never say never ever.

And there's also the new fact that some people are still mad over Edward Norton being replaced by Ruffalo.

I'm hoping all that will change after the Avengers opens! You have to admit, the recent clips and new images of the Hulk that have been released look Far better than Both Hulk movies combined!! At least I think so anyway.

Hey...I'm as big a Hulk fan as anyone out there...but I think the best idea is to wait. I want the next one to be 100% blockbuster.

I bet anything they'll start thinking about ideas and what not after The Avengers releases and they see the huge acclaim for the Hulk.

Literally every comment section below the Avengers clips/trailers/sneak peaks is at least 50% (or more) awesome comments about The Hulk. If I was one of the other actors, I might be hurt! lolol

1) TV show. TV show. TV show. Everybody clamoring for another Hulk movie (probably entailing yet another Hulk reboot after Ang and Leterrier's) always conveniently forgets that Del Toro is still working on the Hulk TV series. I'm sure Marvel wants to give that a chance first to see how it goes, considering you've got one of the best directors in the business already working for you on that.
2) Even if they scrap the TV series and shoot for a film sequel instead, the approach to the character is going to be very different than the way he's conventionally been portrayed in comics, films, and TV. In other words, instead of the traditional Frankenstein story of the misunderstood beast being mercilessly hunted down continously by puny humans in the pitchfork-n-torch brigade, you're going to have to approach the "new" Hulk as Avenger Hulk. Dude just saved the frickin' universe, and is now a full-fledged Avenger under the aegis of SHIELD and Tony Stark. Again: a sequel that has to deal with Hero Hulk instead of Hulk vs. The Rest of the Marvel World is going to require a totally different angle than ANY Hulk writer has ever had to deal with before.

I believe that after the positive response fans give the Hulk in The Avengers, Marvel may well consider green lighting another solo movie to the jolly green giant.

If they did another Hulk movie they wouldn't have to reboot it, just use the Hulk from the Avengers movie. Use Ruffalo (spelling?) and use the same CG hulk. Just as solo films like Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America, merged into one film, the Avengers film can and should spin off into solo films like the Hulk, or Hawkeye, or Fury. And could even launch new franchises too, like Black Panther or Namor. If a character deserves a film but the studio isn't sure they can bring them into the Avengers and introduce them to the public there and then give them their own film.
Wasn't there going to be a live action Hulk TV show coming soon? And a Hulk cartoon show? |

The first one, obviously is the root of the problem, but they also shot themselves in the foot with TIH. I remember Marvel saying they didn't want to promote TIH too vigorously because it might interfere with IM - who at that time wasn't really a household name, so they threw all the marketing into IM1 and the rest is history, as they say.
They didn't make it clear that it was a reboot, so the GA assumed they were getting more of the same of the 2003 film.

What's the bet we only see Hulk in Avengers sequels now? (Not that I'd mind. I'd prefer to have him in successful films than to have another solo Hulk film do poorly.)

Understandable. He's shown to not have a very big audience for the budget he requires.
