The Beatles, Jr.
Is this a belated April Fool's joke?

Well, I mean, on the one hand it does kind of make sense. They've all been raised as musicians and they've known each other their whole lives. If you're looking to start a band, guys you've known forever who you know can play are a logical choice to turn to.
On the other hand, this is gonna seem gimmicky as hell and they're going to have to be pretty damned impressive on their first release to shake off that stigma. It would be smart of them to de-emphasize their parentage as much as possible if they want to be taken seriously. Like, play in as different a musical genre as humanly possible.

Ringo's son is a legitimate drummer if I recall correctly.

i love the beatles. in fact, i think this would a pretty cool thing to do if what they did was a couple of one off tribute performances here and there. anything else is just a cheap way to cash in on the name.

Y'know, here's what I bet happened. I bet the younger McCartney was talking to a reporter, and he mentioned how he and the other three have very casually talked about forming a band while hanging out and drinking, and mentioned the "Beatles: The Next Generation" thing as a half-joke related to it, and then the reporter treated it like a real story.

the way articles read, it doesnt sound like anything that they've serious considered or put effort into.

All of them have been making music and putting out records for years so why not form a band I guess.
They are never going to be their fathers but that doesn't mean they won't put out good stuff. Quote:
Also Julian Lennon > Sean Lennon. Julian's music is better than Sean's I think.

If they genuinely did their own thing and it wasn't about imitating or literally trying to be The Beatles and continue where they left off, (there will ever only be one) I'd be more for it.

It's definitely gotta be organic otherwise it will feel gimmicky as hell.
That said, I'm all for it.

I'd be interested to hear them , though Julian is a better singer then Sean imo. If they do start a band , they really shouldn't call themselves Beatles 2.

Did Paul have an illegitimate son with Simon Pegg? Cause that's what that kid looks like.

As others have said, Julian Lennon should be involved.
Hmm, I won't have a problem with a five member band, actually. But what should they call themselves? The Beetles? New songs would be the best way to go, rock & roll and pop songs like the early Beatles. No tribute band playing covers of their fathers, please. |
