Other Kirkman creations at Marvel are Monstro (who has made some Damage Control cameos since), and Iron Maniac. It is possible there is an anti-Kirkman editorial vendetta, but there is no way to know.

Also, didn't Kirkman kill Freedom Ring himself?

Winter Soldier and Journey Into Mystery are the only two Marvel comics I'm really digging at the moment. Event fatigue and general disaffection with the direction of both the Avengers and the X-Men make it difficult for me to enjoy much else.

He did, and regretted it. Kirkman later claimed online he wasn't aware of how few openly homosexual male superheroes Marvel had in their stable, and if he had he wouldn't have axed FR off. For the record, aside for Northstar there really are no other openly homosexual male superheroes (at least in 616; Colossus is openly gay in Ultimate). At best you could claim Hercules is bisexual, but he mostly focuses on women in modern history. The timing of it was poor; at the time Joe Q or Tom Brevoort or some other high ranking Marvel suit dismissed a criticism of how few gay characters they had by going, "Hey, look, Freedom Ring is the star of MARVEL TEAM-UP right now" and about 2-3 issues later he died. Marvel brass are just terrible about public relations.
Kirkman also axed off Chronok in his MTU series that introduced him.

I didnt say hulkling because he's a skrull, and only really chooses to be a dude for Wiccan's sake
EDIT: I also did not realize Kirkman created Crusader (skrull) who was a kick ass character with a lot of potential...maybe there is something to this

He didn't know he was a Skrull, and he's only half a Skrull, and the Skrulls themselves have solid self-images that they always return to. He's not consciously turning himself into his male human form for Wiccan's sake, that's how he sees himself because that's how he grew up. He was locked in that form for 16 or 17 or however many years.

Or, a sign that Marvel's mishandling of the franchise means I no longer control them terribly important.

The shapeshifting for the other was Xavin's deal.
