![]() Activision has announced 007 Legends coming this fall to tie into the 50th anniversary of Bond's film series. There'll be an over aching storyline connecting six classic Bond films, so I'll take it they'll be going with all actors who've played Bond, from Connery to Craig. All I hoping for is don't make it FPS. Press release: Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

Hm, sounds neat but it also sound like it'll be a fps with the statement that the mi6 mode from goldeneye would be back. I really don't like any of the fps bond games. So I won't be expecting much from this. Wish Activision would of let Blizzard do a sequel to Blood Stone. I loved that game.

Activision should really give others studios a chance instead of Eurocom the whole time for their take on a Bond game, that's why Blood Stone was pretty good, because Eurocom wasn't behind it. It's too bad that Bizzare is no longer active.
They've got to move away from FPS when it comes to Bond, Goldeneye was the exception but I really like Bond with a third person camera, it's a nitpick from me, I know but I can't help it. |

I agree. I don't like Bond as an FPS either. IMO the best Bond titles are Everything or Nothing and Blood Stone.

Blood Stone was mediocre. Though saying that I would like to see a non-fps Bond game. There's too many fps games at the moment and I don't think it's the best option for a great Bond game.
Also, I really doubt that they're going to bring in all the actors. It reads more like it's going to be just Daniel Craig (or some random VA if we're not so lucky) and those missions tie into one big story. I mean how would you explain having an overarching storyline to those missions, but still having numerous James Bond actors?

By actors I meant going with stories from all from their respective portrayal of Bond, not that the actors actually be voicing them, it's probably too expensive and there's VA who's talented enough to do a good imitation, or if it's FPS, they'll be going with Bond being silent.

I think I see what you mean now. Personally I think it will be like Goldeneye Reloaded where it's just retold with one actor (Daniel Craig if we're lucky). Though considering it includes Skyfall it may be a good bet that he's involved.
I don't see them going with a silent Bond though, I know fps games love to use that one, but I think it would be really weird for a Bond game tied in with the new movie to pull the 'silent protagonist' on us.

It involving Skyfall is probably a big tip off.

First person or over the shoulder, I don't like Bond as a shooter period. A true 007 game needs to be more like Mass Effect or Alpha Protocol.

As much as this game sounds promising, I really wish it would be third person. I enjoyed Blood Stone and IMO it seemed like it was a step in the right direction for Bond games. Alot of these more recent FPS bond games just seem to try and emulate the original Goldeneye

This sounds like it's basically Goldeneye Reloaded, but instead simply being Goldeneye, it's a mix of films.
Which actually does sound pretty cool. It'll most likely be an FPS....which is meh, to me. But whatever. Would really prefer a third person shooter. Which, funny enough, most 007 fans seem to want. I've noticed alot more of us have kinda come to terms that Goldeneye was great, yeah, but not the direction 007 should be headed in anymore. Bond being a shooter makes sense to me. But, then again the best 007 game was more than just a shooter. Everything Or Nothing had stealth, driving, melee, some mild platforming with the use of the grapnel gun. A 007 RPG would be damned interesting to me. That'd probably take more time than Activision is willing to invest, though. But being able to spec out 007 into a gadget focused spy (like he has been before) or into this crazy ****ing hand-to-hand beast (like he is now) would really be something I'd like to see. I think the license would probably need to switch hands for that to even seem plausible. That or Activision has a lapse in judgement where this awesome thing could spark and happen. |

It's so disappointing if it's just Craig's Bond. It's tricky to pull off an overarching story with the different actors' interpretation of Bond but considering it's the 50th anniversary I'd hope they'll find a way, I definitely don't want to play through, say The Spy Who Loved Me with Craig's Bond, I'd want to play it with Moore's Bond, if not then they might as well ditch it and just make a Skyfall video game to tie into the film then.
A 007 RPG would be fantasic no doubt, but I've a feeling it'd be something Activision wouldn't want to put so much effort into, Bond is just a license to them to make money (yes most games are too) but at least some games do have developers that have the need to wanting it to be good and actually putting effort so it is good. |

By the sounds of it Legends already is a movie tie-in. Also I think asking for different portrayals of James Bond per story it adapts whilst keeping its own original overarching storyline is impossible.

Yeah, if they really wanted to celebrate the 50th Anniversary...if this was approached entirely as a passion project, yeah. It'd be crazy, and it'd be hard. But, when it's a passion project...it usually is. Finding a way to get all of the 007's sounds like something a diehard 007 fan would do, and play.
That would take time. Yes, a developer who is passionate about the license. But, a publisher who won't hold a gun to your head demanding you make the release date deadline. I just don't trust Activision enough to believe they're willing to do that. They didn't with Blood Stone. Maybe they'll atleast have different 007 skins for multiplayer? Or unlockable skins for single player? I guess that'd be pretty cool. |

I actually think having all the Bonds come back for one overarching story would be really dumb. I think its a neat idea to take all the old films and kind of roll them into one story, but i dont think there needs to be different Bonds. There should be ONE Bond and that ONE Bond should be Daniel Craig. He IS James Bond currently.
He's also the best Bond. Yep, suck on that fanboys.

I'd be cool IF they at least made all Bond skins for Multiplayer,Story Bond could be Graig with references to all other films and then have all Bonds with past actor's likeness as skins for Multiplayer,I'd play as Bronson and it'd be cool IF I played Team Deathmatch and my team mates were playing as Connery or Moore!!!

People just like to say that Connery was the best because he was the first. He really wasn't that great as Bond or in any other role that I've seen him in.

I would say for this generation, Daniel Craig is the better Bond over Brosnan. Sean Connery will always be Bond in my book, but that's not saying Craig isn't good for the role. With this game, I really wouldn't want different versions of Bond all in one game, I couldn't even imagine a story coherent enough to warrant having multiple Bonds. I'm not opposed to the developers remaking alot of the older Bond films as games and replacing them with Craig.

I don't. It's deeper than that. I think he's the best because he's got natural cool charisma. A mix of class and working class toughness.
