No it's just common sense. An oscar nominated star died prior to the release of a big budget movie and he was playing a pop culture icon in the Joker. It was all over the tv, news papers, internet. You also had idiots in the press saying him delving into the mind of the Joker, keeping an in character diary contributed to his death. To say that didn't drum up some morbid interest from people who would otherwise not care about a Batman movie is... baffling.
