Analyst: New Grand Theft Auto In Development


New, complete game will be coming in 2010 or 2011.

July 14, 2009 - A new Grand Theft Auto game will be coming next year, reports industry analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities.

Pachter's latest reports say that Take-Two has been developing a new title in the series - not an expansion - for over a year and that the publisher plans to release the game next year or possibly 2011 at the latest.

"Management declined to state when the game will launch, but has confirmed to us that the game is in development, has been for over a year, and is using the same game "engines" as the last version," Pachter wrote.

"Management also told us that the team at Rockstar North is highly motivated to get the game out, and that the team understands that its highest payday will come from working on GTA instead of any other game. When we do the simple math, we conclude that the next installment is likely to be completed by some time in 2010, although given the frequency of game delays, it is not clear that it will necessarily come before October 31, 2010."

"However, it is clear to us that the next version of GTA will arrive before the end of [Fiscal Year 2011]," he added.

Alan Lewis, VP of corporate communications for Take-Two, declined to comment on the report saying: "We only provide comments on information released directly by the Company. It is our policy to not comment on speculation by the media or analysts.

I like how this one is going to have mountainous area. And desert, I think.

IF it has a desert then it'd be cool IF it's inspired by the Mojave desert in California,I'd like to drive there then find Buggies&Dirt bikes to ride around/do stunts/other crazy *****!!

Exactly.

I remember in SA, that one mission where you take the hippy with you to that secret military base in the desert. That was awesome. With the jet-pack and everything.

That was my favorite mission in SA.

My least favorite mission is SA was when I had to torch the grow op.

I somewhat doubt that Area 51 or anything similar will be in this game. If they're going the more "realistic" route, like they did in GTA IV.

Not that I would be against it.

My least favorite mission in SA was the one where you had to kill those couriers with that mini plane for Zero, most annoying mission ever.

Yeah the flying mechanics in SA was pretty terrible.

I loved how expansive SA was compared to the other GTA games, so much variety and so much to do! GTAIV was great, but it would be great to have a more expansive city or cities to explore.

That was easily my most hated mission in SA, but the silver medal would have to go to the Sweet mission where you drove a dirt bike alongside a train while Sweet shot at some thugs on top of the train. It took me forever to figure out the sweet spot for that mission.

One of my top 5 favorite missions was sneaking aboard the aircraft carrier in order to jack the VTOL jet. It was almost as fun as the building shoot-out mission where one of CJ's crew was being held hostage.

And as far as first runs go, VC might've been my fave GTA title, but I can't go back and play it after IV. I'm currently replaying SA with no problem though, as I have yet to encounter any of the flying missions or middle of nowheresville area of the game yet.

I can't wait to meet up with that crazy Latina ***** again though, I loved her. I also love the fact that I wined and dined the nurse and cop last playthrough, so this time it doesn't matter how I get taken out, cuz I keep all of my weapons and ammo.

I'm pretty sure the mini plane mission is exactly where I gave up and went on to focus on just seeing how long I could rampage before dying lol

The RC mission sucked, but you didn't even have to complete it if you didn't want to. Although the following mission where you played a board game was absolutely worth it.

The cars are looking great as are the environment and the lighting.

First video looked terrible. Looked like a modded San Andreas. The second video, if legit, looked super early, so there's not a lot to glean from it. The third video looked pretty good, but the Big Smoke thing kind of throws me. They made pretty much zero references to previous characters in GTAIV. This being a different game, maybe they decided to go in a different direction with that sort of thing, but still.
