Default The Ramen Noodle Appreciation Thread

Let's face, everyone eats them! Hell, they may as well be a food group for the broke Hypester! Who else makes crazy concoctions with them? What's your favorite? Just all things Ramen!

Are we talking about the real stuff or the instant stuff? Just returned from business in Japan where I went to some awesome ramen restaurants. The make-at-home stuff I only eat if I'm desperate, broke or lazy.

The instant stuff. Got hooked on them when I was broke, still enjoy them as a cheep meal. I mix in all kinds of crazy spices or sauces. Mostly, cheese, though.

I like to chop up steak, cook it in a pan, and put it in my Ramen, along with one egg, and I also add a little bit of mixed veggies and stir fry it in some sesame seed oil and garlic.

Proper Ramen = Mmmm, delicious noodle soup

Instant Ramen = Mmmm, barely edible but not complaining due to poverty

My recipe for Ramen Noodle soup:

Boil water, throw in:

1/3rd can of mixed vegetables or handful of frozen or fresh vegetables
1/3rd can of chili beans
Add one extra chicken bouillon cube

Let boil , add water if it evaporates, add Ramen noodles after veggies and beans become tender. Boil until noodles become tender at medium-high temperature.

In your soup bowl, add sour cream or plain yogurt, dil, parsley flakes, and your favorite hot sauce. Pour your soup in your bowl, mix very well, and enjoy.

That's a strange recipe, but I may try that out.

I actually add a lot more stuff than that, but that is a simple recipe.

If you want the simplest, just add some hot sauce to spice it up.

My complicated recipe without Ramen seasoning:

1. Fry onions with olive oil until near golden brown, then add garlic.
2. Add tomato paste (mixed with water),
3. Add more water (depends how much you are making), add more salt

4. Add your own mix of vegetables and beans. (I usually add celery, carrots, corn, peas, chili beans, and garbanzo beans) , boil until they are tender.

5. Add ramen noodles, boil on medium high.

6. In your bowl, add 2 spoonfuls of yogurt, a dash of dry mint, dil, parsley, a spoon of lemon juice, and your favored level of hot sauce, and/or sri racha sauce. Mix well, THEN pour soup in your bowl, mix well again. This soup will cure what ails you.

I had to give up on the ramen after I found out I had high blood pressure, and that's mainly the seasoning.

I just got back from Japan and my friends and I just about lived on the stuff. There was this great restaurent near Akhihabara where you order ramen through a vending machine which gives you a token. You give the token to the waitor and select exactly how you want it done (add leek, thick/thin noodles etc) then seconds later, Bon Appetit! It was genius!

I had pork ramen personally. At least I think it was pork.

80% of my weekend diet is ramen noodles and little caesars so I've grown both love and hate ramen.

I like the instant cup of ramen. Cheddar Cheese Flavor. I also like some of the kind that comes in a box. Microwavable. Those are like 78 cents at Walmart. Cups of Ramen like 28 cents.

They're good, but I haven't eaten them in years. Just never occurs to me.
