It's debatable if this one is even a sequel, but since it does include references to the Judy Garland musical, I'm going to count it as one...
Return to Oz is criminally underrated. One of the best fantasy movies I've ever seen. This movie does for Oz what Tim Burton's Alice movie should have done for Wonderland.

Totally agree about Return to Oz. Terrific film, and very much closer in spirit to Baum's books than the (admittedly great) Wizard of Oz.
Babe: Pig in the City deserved much, much better than it got.

Mission Impossible II - One of the best action movies ever made.
Conan The Destroyer - This one was more fun to watch. Predator 2 - Danny Glover kicks ass. Rocky V - Gets too much hate because it went back to being realistic SAW V - Its like SAW II, but almost better! The Temple Of Doom - I never understood the hate for this. Being dark is a good thing! Hannibal - One of Ridley Scott's best film. My only gripe was the lame ending. Fast and The Furious 3: Tokyo Drift - People hate it because OMG Walker and Diesel didn't star in it, but if you can get past that, this is actually a really good film to watch! Star Trek: Nemesis - The worst Star Trek film? Not even close! RoboCop 2 - Better than the original IMO. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part II - Dennis Hopper FTW! Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - I'm probably one of few people who enjoyed this follow-up to an all-time classic!

Indy and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Every SW movie after ESB. B&R. My favorite Batfilm before Nolan came along. Highlander 2. Crapped all over the mythos, but I enjoy it immensely as harmelss stupid fun. Iron Man 2. Quantum of Solace.

The Matrix sequels
They get a lot of hate but I love the whole triology, and in the last two they were able to go 'bigger' in terms of action scenes and CGI. It may not look as good now compared to todays effects, but when I first saw them in the cinema I was blown away. |

I love every speech in it. Just take out the awful Zion party/sex montage and we've got ourselves a treat!

Max I & Max II might as well be completely separate franchises, since there's very little of the post-apocalyptic feel to the first movie. Road Warrior is almost universally identified as not just THE movie of the Mad Max franchise, but also THE post-apocalyptic movie that all other post-apocalyptic movies must aspire to be. Or be inevitably compared to.

These are sequels that, while they aren't as good as the originals, always come to mind first when I think of films that get too much flak or are underrated:
Airplane II: The Sequel Psycho II 2010: The Year We Make Contact Star Trek III: The Search for Spock Day of the Dead Ghostbusters II Predator 2 RoboCop 2 Alien³ Return of the Living Dead 3 Highlander: The Final Dimension aka Highlander III: The Sorcerer Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers Escape from L.A. Hellraiser IV: Bloodline Starship Troopers 3: Marauder Universal Soldier: Regeneration Predators Ditto. Its usually considered the best of the series as well as a hugely influential movie. Beyond Thunderdome might have been a better pick for being underrated. |

Also, despite the fact that I enjoyed both DVC and Angels/Demons, I find A&D much better.

The Star Wars prequels (good-to-great movies that have suffered such an inordinate amount from the burden of expectations)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Not great, but a good time, and again, the burden of expectations.) X-Men: The Last Stand (There are parts of this movie that work really well - the ultimate problem is that it tries to fit too much into too little time. It's an epic that was forced into about 90 minutes, and as a result, it's a mess.) Terminator Salvation (It could have been much more, but I liked it. I haven't seen it since it came out, but I'm sure if I watched it again now I'd still say it doesn't deserve the crap it gets.) Die Hard: With a Vengeance (The best Die Hard sequel.) Ghostbusters II (At least it gets some love from some people here.) Wayne's World 2 (Time is being kinder to this one than the others on this list, though; I think a lot of people have had that experience of going back to it and saying, "Oh, this is much better than I remembered.") Quantum of Solace (I wanted more from it, but it's still a good movie.) Quote:
I'm giving a sort of honorable mention to The Godfather: Part III, because there are scenes in it that I love - namely, the ones with Michael & Kay - but the aspects that I hate are the ones that most people hate, and the movie just feels so unnecessary, that I can't really stand by it. It's not a horrible movie, though.

European Vacation
and Christmas Vacation I actually think Christmas Vacation might be my favorite Vacation movie. It's tough to beat the original, but I love me some Cousin Eddie showing up for the holidays. |

Halloween 3, It gets alot of flack for not having anything to do with Michael Myers but on its own it was a pretty great horror movie.

Vegas Vacation definitely has it's moments as well. I don't think it stands up as well with the others, but I do find it entertaining.
