He/she said the movie itself is also dated for them now. So between that and Maguire, it would make it more unwatchable I imagine.

I suppose. But, there's only a two year difference between 1 and 2, lol.
I feel that the first film feels out-dated as well and the CGI is practically laughable. As much as I am not a fan of Maguire though, I am proud of his work in Spider-Man 2. The other two films is "meh", but Maguire was on his A game as with everyone else in that movie. And I will say that for a while until I feel like S-M 2 starts to feel out-dated as well, but if it keeps up as how '89 Batman is to this day, I won't have to change my mind.

This will be the best as it will have the best CGI, Marc Webb is a good storyteller and Andrew Garfield is a better fit as the Webcrawler!

I HOPE it is better than all the Raimi films. I found all them them, to be honest, poor films. Even spidey 2. That film was better than the first for action, but poor IMO in terms of pacing.
Will it be better than all 3? Well, I'll tell ya when I've seen it. Just by going off the trailers, it's looking like it :-) (but that's not a true indicator)

But from the trailers, it's crystal clear that it will SMASH the trilogy!

I'm not a fan of the previous trilogy. They are so locking. But the trailers show great promise with this new spidey film.

All we have to go off IS trailers/snippets at this point. NO ONE can DEFINITELY say this will movie will be better or worse than the previous. This whole thread is simply stating what you think. Your opinion based on what we know or have seen to this point.
My opinion (THERE... I stated it), is this will be better than the previous films. At least for me (again, my opinion, my results). I think this will be much more serious/grounded than Raimi's. Better acting/actors (again, IMO), less cutesy lines/etc... and HOPEFULLY very LESS cheese which is a lot of times a Raimi trademark. Nothing wrong with that IF you like it. I do not. But, that does not mean I did NOT enjoy the Raimi films and will always enjoy them. I just saw SO much potential that was left on the table. |

I voted for "Better than Spider-Man 3".
I don't think this movie is going to be better than SM1 and SM2 but I think it will be a decent movie.

It will be better than Spider-Man 3 only if it has Carnage murdering Gwen Stacy instead of the Green Goblin and bonding with a remitted lizard in the sequel. Not before Morbius and Spider-Man team up to defeat Carnage by sucking the blood out of the symbiote that created the red suit in the first place.

With the Avengers displaying potential to kick The Dark Knight to the moon, I would like my favorite character to have a good movie with potential to shine more than the sequel of that amazing Batman film from 2008

It will easily be better than SM1 (which isn't that good anymore) and SM3, but i don't think it will touch the greatness of SM2, which beats even The Avengers for me.

Plus, The Dark Knight Rises has the potential to end up "kicking The Avengers to the moon", lol. It'll be a difficult task, imo, but it could be possible.

I'm thinking this movie will be on par or slightly better than sm2. again,sm2 saving grace was its action, and Doc Ock.imo sm2 had a lackluster 2nd act.I'm predicting ASM will be just as good as Batman begins.ASM 2 will hopefully kick major ass.

Honestly I predict this will be better than Raimi's first Spider-flick. For one thing the camp seems to have taken a backseat, which is perfectly fine with me. The colors are darker, not as bright as Raimi. From what we've seen of the dialogue, it appears very naturalistic, a little ad-libbed, which give us a subjective vision along with the dynamic first-person perspective (which I wrote off in the beginning but seeing more of it I believe it's amazing).
In my opinion Raimi could get a little too schmultzy, not that Spider-Man 2 didn't bring tears to my eyes when I re-watched it last week, but I would like this feature to carry more hard-hitting emotion that feels more real, more subjective.

Raimi is just a cheesy guy, and he knows it. He likes to have 3 stooges like humor in his films. Tobey Maguire is such a wooden actor. I've seen his films. He's really stiff. They should've got Nicholas brendon or Joshua Jackson in 2002.

I still say if there was a homosexual Spider-Man that would give the character the depth he needs to be as complex as say Batman or Watchmen is and be more interesting.
