Default 5th anniversary for Spider-Man 3

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the first movie, and it's fun to note this thing about SM3. I watched SM2 and saved SM3 for today just for that

If you don't like the movie, then please don't insert negative comments, and fans say what you like about two anniversaries for this film franchise in a row

I cannot even begin to describe the excitement and anticipation I had for this film. The most anticipated film of my entire life,by far. Having Venom and the symbiote on screen for the first time had me following this movie intensely. I remember seeing this at a midnight showing and then going back the next day(or rather,a few hours later)to see it again. I LOVED it. Truth be told, over the years I've calmed down a bit about the film and have really seen the flaws of it,and I hate how Venom was screwed over,but...I still like it. It's a fun movie and brings back alot of memories. I love the black suit and to this day,I think the musical score in part 3 is the best in the trilogy.
It does make me a bit sad seeing it now though, just knowing that would be the last time we'd see Tobey as Spidey. But still,Spidey 3 may not be the greatest but it gets way too much hate, imo.

I first saw this over two years ago on FX. I had seen TSSM, but up till that point, it was mainly a "pass the time" show. I started getting more interested in the show and remembered that they were showing SM3 on FX, so I decided to see it to see if it would be just as good. Although different from TSSM, it was just as good, so the movie helped me become a Spider-Man fan. Been meaning to watch this, along with the other movies again for awhile, but whenever I planned on doing it, I didn't feel like it. Gonna try to watch the first movie [and eventually 2 and 3, but I'm not gonna do it at the same time] soon though.

Hey Aziz. I know you're trying to keep all the comments in this thread on the positive side but honestly, it's difficult to do. I agree with Joker and Anno...easily one of the worst movie-going experiences I've ever had. I was so utterly disappointed by SM3.

Um...uh...Bruce Campbell was good. Oh, and the Sandman transformation scene was epic. It was just poetry.

I remember being so excited for the movie to start I couldn't sit still in my seat especially since I almost wasn't able to go on opening night. It was a crazy day leading up to that point.

The Sandman birth is great, as he tries to 'put himself together.'

I loved Spidey 3.

I liked 3 more than 2. Wanna fight about it?

I actually get the humor in it where as many people do not, and they fault the movie for it haha.

2 was boring, 1 was perfect, and 3 was just fun! There are only a few things Id change in 3, Id make harrys scar a little more fresh looking (it looks like a few years healed) and Spider-mans ripped mask in the finale looks terribly awkward on his face, id have changed that.

Venom was good, I get the dynamic of it. Brock being mirror image to peter parker, taken to the side of evil instead of good.

Spidey saving gwen in mid air is still one of the best comic book sequences in my opinion. Spidey 3 had some REAL money shots and beautiful sequences.

Also the cinema experience I had with it was great haha.

I don't see how SM3 is as bad as so many ppl on here make it out to be. I think alot of folks here over-react negatively about ALOT of stuff. Sure some people over-react positively too, but there are way more people that are overly negative about almost everything than there are people being positive about a few things.

I officially think Spidey fans are worse than Sonic fans.

Although I don't like SM3 as much as I use to, I still thought it was awesome.

It just irks me to know so many scenes that could have made the film WAAAAYY better got cut:

I agree. Especially the mirror gag with Peter's twisted reflection.

The only issue I have with this movie is how Peter is: "Spider-Man used to be attacked all the time"
Spider-Man: He was praised by almost everyone
Spider-Man 2: Still the same as 1, maybe loved even more

3 had the better action, 2 had a better story. At least that's how I feel.

Before Spider-Man 3 came out, I believed Raimi was going for this:

1 - more action
2 - more story
3 - a combination of both

But...Raimi tried way too much for S-M 3, and the third installment felt like it only tried to have more action than the last two films combined.

The main problem was just too many villains. One served the last two films just fine, there was no need to break the chain for a 3rd. Be it Venon, Sandman, or Harry as the new Green Goblin, one of those would of benefited more the movie tremendously. But I think Raimi did ok with the 3. New Goblin's suit was horrid, but the scenes themselves were well done.

Raimi did okay with Harry, but I can't say the same for Sandman and Venom.

I think it was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. Raimi had his own ideas of how to direct the film and what villains to add,Arad and the studio wanted Venom,Laura Ziskin wanted Gwen Stacy;etc,etc....
Honesty though, when I look at the the first two films they were really well crafted(for the most part) and it looked like Raimi and co. took their time with the scripts and characters. The first 2 movies really held everyone's interest,it seems. But by part 3 it looked me that Sam needed a break from the series and the script was just put together rather quickly, with major plot holes left unfilled. It all seemed a bit "sloppy."

Exactly.
Even though I don't hate it (I watched it something like 2 years after it was released... lol so I knew what I was going to get) Spider-man 3 was the obvious sign that the old team was done with the franchise.

Bu I do like a few thing about it... Harry's character arc, how Sandman and Venom look, I even think the last battle is kind of good.

Yeah, same here. I was hoping Raimi would have the chance to redeem himself. Oh well. I'm stoked for TASM.

After Batman Forever, I stopped believing in redemption for directors. Sam Raimi couldn't have done crap to Spider-Man 4, imo.

My mindset has completely changed from when we first were being given SM4 to now with TASM. I really like Sam Raimi and it's a shame that he had to go out with a stinker like SM3.
