What we know about Captain America 2 from the Avengers...

So, after seeing the Avengers midnight screening, I'm wondering how this film will influence Captain America 2...

Let's go over what we know for sure...


- Cap is now publicly known and recognized

- Steve wasn't happy about Fury trying to make weapons, and this could effect their working relationship
- With the Avengers going their separate ways, we can assume Cap will be sticking with Shield since he has nowhere else to go...


Did I miss anything?

How do you guys see these plot points factoring into Captain America 2?

I'd like to see that there is still some question of trust between SHIELD and Cap, but that ultimately we see that Fury and Cap are on the same side. I think Cap staying with SHIELD is the most logical choice. He's the soldier, so he's likely to stay and look to get back into active duty.

Perhaps since he's staying with S.H.I.E.L.D. we'll be seeing more of Black Widow and/or hawkeye in his solo film.
They're unlikely to get solo movies, and they might want to give Cap a team he can lead. We already saw some of him teaming up with those two in the movie, and it would make sense to go in that direction with future films.

I really want Cap 2 to be Cap featuring SHIELD. It makes the most sense.

I think we'll see more of Steve acclimating himself to the present setting. More of the "man out of time".

Whedon is pretty smart for cutting out the man out of time Cap moments in the Avengers movie. Cap's inner conflict in the Avengers became more subtle and nuanced. Cap 2 is the right movie to delve deeper into the man out of time predicament Steve has.

I highly doubt it, that would be a ridiculous copout to me. If she was an undercover SHIELD agent she'd be whipping out the guns and kicking alien ass in battle. Plus it would make no sense. Plus she appeared on TV news after that. Not a good idea for a spy trying to keep a low profile.

Also remember, Peggy Carter is still alive in this continuity.

I'm kind of hoping they just eliminate love interests from Cap altogether and keep him a sad bastard over Peggy. Cap's relationships have never worked that well in the comics for me. Diamondback is the only one that was remotely right to me.

Steve doesn't really have much direction here. He's got no family, he's no very happy with SHIELD, all his friends are dead. Really, kind of depressing.

Personally I would like to see the Red Skull return. Being enhanced, it's not implausible that he survived the 70+ years. They need to bring HYDRA into the present.

Basically any movie going forward with Cap in the modern day, HYDRA or at least a descendant of it needs to be included.

There will be a lot more fish-out-of-water stuff I expect. I hope the conversation with Peggy that Joss wrote for Avengers find its way into the movie. It's too important to be a deleted scenes.

We will get more man out of time stuff, and there will be issues with SHIELD and Steve, for sure. But, SHIELD I am guessing will be a big part of Cap 2, considering Cap's supporting cast from TFA are either old or dead. He needs a new supporting cast, so I see SHIELD playing this role. I can also see Cap 2 leading most directly into Avengers 2 of the solo-sequels.

It sounds like they never filmed that scene so if anything it could just be added on and possibly reworked to the CA2 script.

It's good that Steve spent all his time working during avengers. I expect cap 2 to focus on him trying to find his place in the world.
