I also love the Brad Bird choice but I think after MI4 I doubt he wants his next movie to be another sequel.

The choices are kind of underwhelming but Marvel has yet to make a poor choice with directors or any of it's actors. The Community guys are a bizarre but interesting choice.

He's gotta be a hot commodity....Marvel would be lucky if they could get him for Avengers 2 let alone Cap 2 If Brad Bird is gonna do a solo Marvel movie I'd prefer it to be the Hulk as A) He has experience with heavy CGI creatures B) Hulk desperately needs a hit solo film and C) Captain America is off running and isn't as desperate as Hulk for a serious hit.

CA for my money was by far the best "action" movie of the Marvel lot and the action still could have been more interesting overall.

one thing that marvel movies lack in my opinion are good action sequences. and the scope of the movies needs to be bigger as well.
especially with thor, where they could have made a LotR type of movie, it felt quite cheap. hopefully after avengers this will change.

‘Captain America 2′ Helmer Job Narrows As F. Gary Gray Focuses On ‘Straight Outta Compton’
By MIKE FLEMING | Tuesday April 10, 2012 @ 3:34pm EDT EXCLUSIVE: The Marvel Studios short list of directors for Captain America 2 just got smaller. The list includes Community‘s Joe & Anthony Russo and The Adjustment Bureau helmer George Nolfi, but I’m told Marvel is talking to others for a film that Disney just dated that film for April 4, 2014, with a storyline that picks up after the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers. F. Gary Gray had been on that short list, but I’m hearing that he has withdrawn from consideration and is in hot and heavy negotiations to direct the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton for New Line Cinema. He’ll likely do that film instead.

After hearing that Joe Johnston wasn't coming back, F. Gary Gray was my replacement choice. Bah.

I say I'm more intrigued by the Russo brothers than with Nolfi.

I'd be fine with either Nolfi or the Russos, but if Nolfi gets the job, what do you folks think of the idea of Emily Blunt playing Sharon Carter? She's already worked with Nolfi before, and she's been on Marvel's radar in the past. She was originally going to play Black Widow, but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict, and then Marvel wanted her to play Peggy Carter, but she passed because she had other projects lined up.

Blunt probably won't have anything to do with Marvel since her husband pretty much had the role of Cap until the internet exploded when the news hit. LOL

Yeah I doubt Emily Blunt cares. She wants to get paid and get big roles just like every other actress out there.
Like Scarlett Johansson not doing Black Widow after everyone crapped on The Spirit.

I have no idea why Rian Johnson isn't included on Marvel's list. He's way more talented than the other guys and Looper looks like it's getting alot of attention. Rian could really give Cap that crunch and a slightly more gritty texture to it than Johnson.

Rian Johnson would be a dream come true. As would Duncan Jones & Joe Wright.

Is Doug Liman busy?
He directed the Bourne Identity and Mr and Mrs Smith.
