completely and totally agree. honestly i blame sony for everything. as much as i am excited for the reboot. the whole situation was stupid and smells kinda fishy too.

sony wouldn't let Sam have creative freedom AT ALL hardly on ANY of the films, every time they said they would they stepped right back in and started controlling things...

the official word was that Sam said he felt he couldn't make the deadline (which was suppose to be what, last summer?) yet they decide to do a reboot and the film comes out this summer? a year after what was suppose to be the release date fro SM4? that makes ALOT of sense sony.

and now ppl are looking at sony like they are soem sort of saviors of the spidey film franchise by delivering the reboot when they could have very easily just got it right the first time around

This is the third comparison picture I've seen of Spider-Man's movements. Very cool. They've got it right.

The date that Thor was released last year was the date Spider-Man 4 was supposed to be released, but Raimi didn't like the script, even after its fourth or fifth rewrite, or something like that, and then Sony finally called for the reboot. The ironic part is that Raimi just wanted to push S-M 4 for another year, which would have been 2012.

Are you guys serious? Sam raimi had a hand on why we have a reboot. Just look at all the spider-man films. I'm glad we have a reboot. Did everyone really want a sm4? Raimi has always been cgi crazy. He wanted a special effects extravaganza in the likes of avatar for sm4.

I'm glad Tobey Maguire is out. He will forever be defined as the cry baby who decided to sniff a suitcase full of meth for his dance scene in SP3. Either that, or he was drunk out of his mind.

That's not the reason I'm happy for the reboot. The CGI, whilst heavy, was never my problem. It was everything else. Lack of Chemistry between Maguire/Dunst. Aweful dialog. A silent spiderman. Rather dull movies IMO.

These films are just so underwhelming. So far, this reboot looks brilliant. It looks like the spidey film i've been waiting for. As I've said, I'll give a true verdict when it's out on DVD/Blu-ray. Only when doing that with the others did I get a true judgement on them, so this needs to be treated the same for me.

I wouldn't say Raimi's movies were dull. I've thought they were flawed since day ot it's clear he really loves the character, and it shows. but Maguire was not a good Peter. Nor a good Spider-man.

I found them dull. They're films I struggle to watch now. I have no interest in watching them. For me, they got worse with each sequel. S2 had better action scenes, and JJ was funnier in that film, but overall, it was inferior to S1. But for me, they where all just meh.

But that's just me. That was one interpretation of the character I did not connect with at all. This is why I'm happy with the reboot. Everything looks right for me. This will hopefully be the interpretation of the character i've been waiting for.

I can totally understand your point. and I would say I agree about the reboot probably being closer to how I see the character as well.

That's it. We can never say the previous films where wrong, as people did connect with that version of spidey/parker in those films. This will be another interpretation of the character, one that we will connect with, along with maybe the ones who did with the Raimi version.

My sentiments exactly. And a horrible Mary Jane Watson. James Franco and J.K. Simmons were the best thing about the raimi trilogy though.

Are you serious? He had a hand in why we have a reboot because he walked away from an awful script he didn't write. Sony wanted Vulturess...he was smart enough to say no.

Raimi was cgi crazy? Do you have eyes? Look at the trailer for this movie....it's a cgi bonanza. The budget for this movie is rumored at $200+ million. The entire final fight looks to be all cgi. The lizard is all cgi. Most of the swinging scenes look cgi like Raimi's movies. Are you that delusional?

What!? The swinging doesn't look anything as Raimi films, it's pretty clear that there is an actor there swinging (even if it is in front of a green screen). Raimi films only had a CGI Spidey, except when talking, even fighting goons or running in front of USA CGI flags (watch the first time Peter takes pictures of Spidey for the Bugle on SM 1, that scene is ridulous how bad the CGI was, or any fight with the Goblin or Doc Ock). The only good CGI was Sandman (that was incredible).
The Raimi's Spidey floats in the air, and it looks like it hovers along the pendulum line, it looks much worse with the years.

And I'm not defending Webb's movie, I'm criticizing Raimi's. Peter was incredibly lame, MJ was worse, the villians were campy, but not as much as the dialogue. And that's a trademark for Raimi's films, it's the same campy style as Evil Dead in the 80s.

Actually, the organic webbing was an element from James Cameron's Spider-Man script that he decided to keep for his version. It wasn't necessarily something that he came up with himself.

Wtf does that have to do with why there is a reboot?

This is the most lol worthy argument I have seen on here in a long time.

Mike here thinks because he and some Internet fanboys hated Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head and emo Peter Parker that Sony listened to their Internet cries for justice and decided to reboot the franchise. Hahahahahaha.

HAHAHAHAHA

haha I don't think that at all. Hahaha.....ha .ha...haha. you must really love the raimi movies. Ive always thought they missed their mark. But those faults in the raimi trilogy is why I'm happy we have a reboot.

oh yea, no doubt its Cameron's idea. but raimi decided to go along with it because he felt that would alienate peter from the general audience, if he were to have made the webshooters......Which is bs

This time I agree with you chaseter. They didn't do the reboot because some people didn't like Raimi's Spider-man, they did it cause Raimi bailed. Of course they could've still made Spider-man 4 without old director and old actors, but they were smart enough to not do that
