I wonder what he looks like now. Has he aged a lot?

No idea, but I was thinking more of new dialogue in form of voice-over in Bruce's head.

Seriously, he was such a good choice for that role. I loved him on Law and Order, too. I always kind of wished there would be a moment where Thomas cuts loose a little bit like Cutter was prone to do, but alas...

Not really, Ra's presence indicates a flashback, that isn't the same. I'm talking about the actual story in rises being segmented and switched around, such as we start off with a broken city and Batman arriving to find it in shambles, only for him to recall how it all happened etc, because if Bruce really is taking an 8 year hiatus, that's a lot of story to go through sans Batman, and I'm not entirely sure the film should be bat-free in the first hour.

Way are we assuming the first time we see Batman isn't in the first hour?

yeah I definitely think Batman will show up in the first hour even if the story is told linear.

Agreed. I think we will see Batman trying to get back into the swing of things before his first confrontation with Bane himself.

...dont we have to see batman early on in the film? in order for his injury to heal and retrain... would be kind of dumb to have batman first show up 75 minutes into the movie...then batman disappear for 45 minutes...and come back for the ending...

It could depend on the length of the movie. If it is 2 and half hours plus I could actually see no Batman for quite awhile, but I doubt it.

Because, after you get the scenes introducing everyone in the story, the subplot with gordon getting injured, bruce wayne's miserable life without the bat, the hospital scene, JGL visiting the orphans, etc etc I'm betting that will all take some time to get to.

If Bruce walking around with a cane is in fact before he dons the batsuit again, then that would add even more scenes, such as the selina scene (so she'd have to be in jail, then broken out) Heck i still think the stadium scene is what injures Gordon in the first place. Like i said there's a lot of story to get to before Batman even enters the story. Hence why i think the film might go for the non linear route.

That orphan bus was at Wollaton Hall (Wayne Manor location). Somebody figure that one out.

Yeah, I can totally see Nolan intercutting bits of the well scene from Begins while Bruce is climbing the pit. It's Nolan's thing afterall. He's always inserting those small 5 second flashbacks into scenes. Like at the end of Begins when Bruce picks of the doctor scope thingy(sorry lol), and it flashes back to him and his dad.

I can see Bruce climbing the pit, and the film quickly flashes back to the well scene, intercutting it through out the scene. Maybe Bruce is even a little dazed as he climbs, with sweat coming down his face, right as he's about to reach the top, we hear Thomas' voice say "Why do we fall, Bruce?", and Bruce whispers as he looks up at the huge hole "So we can learn to pick ourselves back up", and he makes the final stretch to the top and escapes while epic music booms.

I get chills just thinking about it!

That can all happen in the first 50 minutes. Not to mention Bruce in his depression could spend sometime in the Batcave.

Some seem to think that as soon as Bruce becomes Batman again he is going to get broken. I am not so sure. The public will need to know Batman is stil laround, before they can ask if he is coming back again.

I would hope that Alfred would get some love during the Well scene.

You are missing the point, 50 mins, an hour makes no difference. You risk losing the audience quickly if you don't show the reason people came to watch the film (aka Batman) early on (obviously this doesn't count with origin films) so either the film is non-linear or Nolan has likely crafted the first hour really really well building up to Batman's late appearance. Besides i'm pretty sure during the 8 year hiatus, people are still clamouring for batman's return, not just after his imprisonment.

I highly doubt the reason people come to watch a Nolan Batman film, is simply to see Bruce in costume asap. And if they did, I think they will get over it once Bane and Selina start doing their thing.

No but the primary reason people watch a Batman film is Batman, it's not Bane or Catwoman, If it's an hour into your film and you aren't showing the pointy eared one, you either have an insanely well crafted story that is building up to his return at every scene, or you have a problem.

I was thinking it would be cool if they had a more epic, re-vamped version of Mollosus with maybe some opera-esque signing of the main part.
