The Penguin taking control of the Batmobile.

Joker's gas being purple. I'm not sure if this actually was in B89 but I remember so many times different villains in the TV series threw color gas. It also reminded me of the Joker's fake-dynamite, which he put in that bank owner's mouth.

Do you mean when he stole the Batmobile? He never had control over it like he did in Returns. He just swiped it from Batman and drove around in it himself. That happened a few times in the TV show. Villains stealing the Batmobile.

This incident I'm referring to happened in one of the season 1 episodes. Penguin swipes the Batmobile and turns it into his "Bird-Mobile";

What happened in the second episode of 'the Penguin goes straight' was that Batman rigged up a trap in the bat-mobile, so that when the Penguin stole it, Batman took control of it, so it was the reverse of what happened in Batman Returns.

Probably, also maybe some influence from Alicia Hunt in Batman 89.

According to Arleen Sorkin, the voice of Harley, Dini based Harley on Arleen Sorkin herself after he saw her in the soap opera, Days of our Lives, in a dream sequence where she was dressed in a jester costume.

The actress landed the role in an unusual way. "I slept with Paul Dini," she jokes. "Actually, Paul and I have been friends since college-back at Emerson. He was home one day watching Days of Our Lives [a soap on which Sorkin appeared]. We did a dream sequence where I was a court jester and he said that was the inspiration for Harley. Paul called me up and said, 'Would you like to do this character?' I said yes and came over! I was born to play her." One wonders how the performer felt about having a character tailormade for her. "It's completely flattering " Sorkin says fondly. -"Knowing that makes it a joyful experience to play her. I don't feel I'll ever be recast so that's good too."
