Yes, Japan should give it a boost cause they love that spectacle. Superheroes usually don't do all that great there, except for like Spider-Man but give them something visually appealing and they'll see it.

It's odd that Japan doesn't like superhero movies, since they have their own superhero shows like Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai (aka Power Rangers) over there.

Disney should re-release TA a few times to get as close to the Titanic's record as possible. Since Cameron unabashingly milked his two most successful films for all its worth, TA should also take advantage of moviegoers adoration. I know I will go see it few more times at the cinema if it's released at the slower times of the year.

What's the point though? Cameron had a legit reason to re-release Titanic.

Rereleases are generally pointless. I'd rather they just focus on their next batch of movies, including the sequel

i know, why wasn't this movie in IMAX 2D. I don't care for 3D, I would have love to see this film in Imax

Any chance the movie will beat Avatar's Domestic boxoffice?

I think it has a 50/50 shot at topping Avatar.

I agree, Liam. Avatar had way less competition. That was key for its run.

Avenger will have to go up against Battleship (it will take a bit of The Avenger grossing), MIB 3 (will take bigger hit), Snow White and The Huntman (gaining more and more hype), and Prometheus (gaining more and more Hype).

Avatar only had Sherlock Holmes as competition and it was only the week after. None of the other movies were serious competition.

Pretty good shot at topping Titanic's original domestic take if it keeps going at this rate. As Parker Wayne says the competition is going to heat up soon for TA when June kicks in while Avatar just had smaller or crappier movies in January.

Surprise no one posted this:

Robert Downey Jr. is prone to making mathematical gestures on the red carpet, but he's going to need more than ten fingers to sift through his payout from "Marvel's The Avengers." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 47-year-old actor stands to make about $50 million from the film.

Word of mouth could sink Battleship ( pun intended) . It's gotten very bad reviews.

I hope so, because I really want to have the headline "Avengers, you sank my Battleship!"

If it gets 56 next week, I think the following week it can probably get to 35M or so. I think this will have enough steam to make it to 600. If it's close Disney will keep it in theaters or rerelease it. I think it will get another IMAX run around September (they did the same for Star Trek because of great legs it had in May and June).
