I got tickets booked for Prometheus in the proper IMAX in London. It will be... glorious! Apparently the screen is as high as three double decker buses stacked on top of each other.

Not a real IMAX. It's insane how much bigger they are.

To really get the full imax experience though you need to see a film that was actually filmed in imax it is a big difference.
I still remember why jaw dropping seeing the opening sequence of TDK. Seeing iron man 2 which was not filmed in imax was very underwhelming comparatively. Which is why i'm so stoked for TDKR an hour of imax filmed footage! |

Just be sure you arent sitting too close to the screen, as you will end up having to move your head to look at the full screen. I saw TDK there and it as was intense, every aerial shot which moved over the edge of a building mde it feel like you were about to fall off the building. I also saw the new TRON 3D there.... Trippy. My next trip there will be fro TDKR |

I'm not sure I quite like these latest rumors of 3+ hour runtime. It just seems a bit... self-indulgent for a summer movie.

It's hard to get repeat viewers for movies of that length sometimes.

It can, though there are exceptions, like Titanic and the Lord of the Rings movies.

I guess we answered the question of whether Batman with prep time can beat Avengers this weekend.

Yeah, but films like those are usually released at the holiday season. The longest summer movie in recent memory I can think of is At World's End, and even then that's primarily light-hearted stuff.

Im glad the Avengers did good but before it came out a lot of the online talk was about it not being good or that it would not take in a billion dollars I feel in general there was just a lot of unwarranted hate towards it.

I think The Avengers will remain the highest grosser of the two (just for the 3D bump alone). And I'm saying that as one who worships the ground both Whedon and Nolan walk on. |

Looks like when all is said and done TDK guys won't have a leg to stand on from a boxoffice perspective. Adjusted for inflation? Nope. Admissions? Nope.

I thought it was already confirmed that TDK still bested TA in ticket sales? It's a big reason as to why TDKR won't make 200m on OW (even with 300 new IMAX theaters built).

What straws?
![]() A couple of posters from The Avenger boards used the ticket sale numbers to illustrate their point that TDKR won't be surpassing 200m on OW. And I agreed with them after seeing the numbers. At best, TDKR will only be making 185m. Seriously, grow up. I didn't realize being accurate was grasping at straws (something you're a master in, ironically).

I really don't see TDKR doing that well. I mean the hype is almost non-existent. Other than TDK fans, no one is even talking about the movie. I here more people moaning about the new Spider-man movie than those saying they want to see the new Bat-Man movie. Go into Wal-mart and you will half an isle dedicated to Avengers and Spider-man with maybe a 1ft strip for Bat-Man. I wonder if they thought they even needed to market the movie at all.

The thing is, TDKR could end up selling more tickets in its OW than The Avengers, but still fall a bit short of The Avengers' astonishing $207M three-day record. The fact that it's NOT in 3D will keep it from exceeding TA's number, but it should come close or barely crest the $200M mark without it.
