What do you call that scene we saw in the trailers for Flowers of War then?

IIRC she did think the naked chainsaw scene in American Psycho was hilarious.

Hah I thought the same thing. There were some heavy make out scenes in Harsh Times too. Maybe those are not hardcore enough. He did drop out of A Dangerous Method and that new Malick film both of which have some nudity and sex.

I don't think they're married at that time? Haha I don't know. It's probably because he didn't have any option to get out of stuff back then compared to now when he can pick and choose projects and make some demands on what scenes he can get out of.

Just the one where Ben Affleck replaced him ("To the Wonder").

He's still a go for the other 2 that will be shot this year ("Knight of Cups" and the other one that was titled "Lawless" before).

I'm not sure Anne is beloved among women audiences to be honest. Marion is perhaps respected more even if she is not as well known

So TDK indeed sold more tickets. That confirms the fact that even if TDKR sells more tickets, its chances of grossing more than TA are really slim because of 3D.

Not really. The difference is not due to just the 3D premium, but also the fact that tickets are more expensive now than they were in 2008. If TDKR manages to sell about the same number of tickets as TDK, its gross will be higher by default.

I don't think there are accurate tickets counts, just estimations. Every place I go to, it always says "est. ticket count".

What I mean is so many people want to always use inflation as an excuse of why some films today make so much money but if you really look at it do you think gone with the wind would have sold as many tickets as it did being released in today's ticket price

Wrong. Titanic sold around 55 million more tickets than TDK, a difference of 77%. Avatar doesn't fare much better with Titanic 66% (50 million tickets) ahead of it. Tickets sold tells you the real popularity of a movie. In foreign countries, they officially keep track of tickets sold in addition to dollar gross. Hollywood uses ticket price inflation, IMAX, and 3D gimmicks so they can brag about setting new records every year, but the truth is moviegoing is not more popular than ever even if the dollar grosses are bigger.

Gone With The Wind had many releases over many years and it was not competing with home video or cable TV. Titanic was competing with both of those things in 1997/1998, and yet it blows every other movie out of the water from the last 30 years. It sold 125-126 million tickets in one run, which is astounding in the era we live in today. Avatar was around 76 million while TDK was around 71 million. Think about how staggering the difference is between those huge movies and Titanic.

Titanic is a freak of nature I admit that but I have to say that what avatar did is amazing for people to shell out 15 to 20 dollars per watch to see it shows how popular it was...I also think that with prices going up ticket sales will only keep going down

Avatar had an amazing run, a 10 multiplier in an era where that is unheard of for wide releases. It basically didn't drop during its second weekend, and that was after a $77m opening. That is an incredible hold, and it just kept doing the same type of thing in the following days and weeks. But its record compared to Titanic is tainted by 3D, inflation, and IMAX, same as TDK's $500m achievement is tainted by IMAX and inflation compared to much more popular movies from the past like the Lion King, Phantom Menace, Forrest Gump, and Jurassic Park.

TDKR will be in 3D though, won't it?

And aren't we forgetting the power of TDKR's IMAX ticket sales too? That'll surely give the grosses even higher numbers.

I think this can actually beat The Avengers, honestly. Don't write this off just yet.

In 3D? I guess that's a joke. IMAX will give it a boost but there aren't enough of those screens to compensate for the demand, a lot of people will settle for the 2D as oppose to waiting a week or two unless its for repeat.

No sir. In wonderful 2D only.

...Which only means if TDKR manages to surpass The Avengers it would really be saying something.

What are the IMAX prices compared to 3D in the US? Over here they're exactly the same.

I thought WB was forcing 3D on everybody, without Nolan's blessing?

http://www.nolanfans.com/2012/04/01/...t-rises-in-3d/

Or was this not legit?

EDIT: Hahaha, just read the whole thing, and now I feel like a moron.
