The french and US forums are flooded by the crybabies who were unable to play at launchday. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
"I took a day off at work to play but can't => refund !!" "Blizzard is a multi million bla bla company and can't rig their login servers to handle one million players trying to log at the same time => incompetance !!" "I can't play with my friend at launch day => refund !!" "I can't log => refund !!" I play online since 1999 and at every launch of a big MMORPG ( D3 isn't a MMO but you still need to log on BNet ) it is the same story. # 1 rule : don't expect to play at launch # 2 rule : don't expect a smooth launch for a game that million of gamers are waiting for 12 years.

I'm not sure I would call people who payed $60 (which more than most big PC games by the way), took time off to enjoy it, and are unable to use the thing they bought "crybabies".
And that's not even getting into how players have to put up with all kinds of bull**** like syncing with servers, getting kicked out to the main menu, having to wait in queues, etc. for a game that I have to imagine the majority want to play single player.

I call a cat a cat.
Gamers who nerdrage on forums are crybabies, plain and simple or very young. I spend 60 € ( which is more than $60 ) and could not play either and I didn't switch my brain to 6 y/o setting and make a drama because mommy didn't buy my a lolipop. And when I say "gamers" I talk about people that know the drill, what did they expect exactly when one million people are rushing the login server ?

I'm really debating getting this or not. I haven't seen any reviews out yet which is a bit surprising.

I knew some buddies that played Diablo 2, but I never got into it. Most of my friends bought Diablo 3, so I might just get it to play with them. I just think it's pathetic that people pay 60 dollars to play a game launch day to find out that they can't even play it most of the time. This is why there should be an offline single player mode as well. Kind of reminds me of the online troubles of Twisted Metal (PS3) and how it was basically broken for two-three weeks.

I loved Diablo II and played a lot of it, but personally I'm more excited for Torchlight II. I may get Diablo III if it goes on sale some time though.

Sigh, I'll need a new computer if I want to play Diablo III.

Man...I am having a blast with this game. I'm actually getting some people together this weekend and we're all gonna play it and eat as much pizza as we can hold. :P
Torchlight doesn't even compare.

So Im contemplating getting this. Maybe this weekend. Is it worth 60? Is it gonna be a time filled game to play? Is there lots of replayability to it?

By all accounts it's a pretty good game, always-online DRM shenanigans notwithstanding. Whether its worth the price of admission though... that's another story. Competing games with the same amount of content and polish typically cost less than half that price, and the only reason Blizzard charges as much as they do is because they know they have a sizable fanbase that will buy whatever they put out no matter the cost. It's up to you whether or not you want to pay the Blizzard tax.

Meanwhile, my wife and I are playing through it with another set of characters. All in all, we are having a blast with the game. Certainly better than any other multi-player hack n'slash out there.

I created a Battle.net account and got within 1 click of buying Diablo 3 just now before I thought better of it. I decided to take a look around at the DRM and other issues that are still prevalent. Decided it sounded too problematic at the moment. I'll probably end up getting it a few months down the line instead, after they've patched everything up and the connection issues have been smoothed out (hopefully). I'm thinking of reinstalling and playing through Diablo 2 in the meantime.
Put me in the crowd who kind of hates the required internet connection, though. I view Diablo as very much a SP experience and don't intend to use any of the MP additions.

I did some co-op with a couple friends in D2 to try it out (remember, it was all hot and new back then in 2000), but I generally stuck to SP unless a friend asked me to co-op. Probably gonna be the same deal with D3.

Been playing with my best friend the past couple of days. It's nice because he lives 800km away.

So, for the people who care about the lore: This story doesn't make much sense to me.
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Ugh. Just...ugh. I get that they started work on this game in '05, but the dev team could've put more than 5 minutes into the main story beats. I don't want an expansion pack to understand what in the Burning Hells is going on. |
