Man With 30 Kids Wants State Help With Child Support

On one hand I absolutely agree that we need fewer babies born when there are already so many that need good homes. To say "But I want my own!" seems somewhat childish to me.

On the other hand, my cousin had tried to adopt for years and it was a nightmare. Many of the kids had severe behavioral problems and the adoption agency lied to her about the progress that one of them was making. The kid suffered terrible abuse from his birth parents and had a habit for setting fires. The agency told my cousin that it had gotten under control, but it wasnt.

That, in my opinion, is borderline criminal.

Well that's the thing...most religions employ a mindset based in their beliefs that one must abide by their teachings, and to go against that and follow the world is an afront to their beliefs. The catholic church has made a lot of theological changes over the last 100 years, but something's Rey believe they just can't compromise their beliefs on. I'm not saying I agree with the churches stance on this, but that's the logic.

That being said, I think you also may be ignoring the fact that the catholic church is also against sex outside of marriage. If no one were to have sex with anyone but their spouse, you'd see aids and other sexually transmitted deseases decline rapidly. The two rules are meant to go hand in hand. If people are folllowing one rule but not the other, it really isn't anyone's fault but their own.

And with their father being a jerk, the cycle may just repeat itself. I know there are guys out there who say they don't want to be like their dad when he's not around, but I've seen too many of them fall into the same trap.

Well maybe most people who create child after child after child while kids go hungry and parentless aren't all selfish but I do find it somewhat misguided and short sighted.

Say what you will about my ideas being obnoxious but can you deny it would be a better world if every child had a decent home and more people learned to love other people's children unconditionally?

It would be a better world if we had a cure for every single disease in existence. It would be a better world if billionaires would give away money to the less fortunate so that they would all at least reach the middle class. Better yet, it would be a better world if people would have children and stick around to raise them so that we wouldn't have to depend on others raising them. It would also be a better world if parents didn't die before raising their kids, and/or weren't put in situations where they had to leave them.

There are a lot of things that would make the world a better place. What's your point?

I would also like to point out that I did not say that your beliefs were obnoxious. I said that you were being obnoxious by using them to make value judgements about other people. You are not "selfish" or "greedy" just because you don't want to adopt.

Let me put it this way: If there were a group of people who kept cloning themselves in a place that was overcrowded and where others were desperate for resources, would you think the cloning was selfish or noble.
