Tony Stark/Iron's politics have undergone an interesting metamorphoses since the character first appeared in the early 1960s, from hard-shelled(NO pun intended) cold war devotee and arms supplier to the Pentagon( yes, I know it was the quintessentially liberal President -FDR_ who proclaimed his country to be"the arsenal of democracy", but it was the far from liberal successor and former four star General, Dwight Eisenhower who prophetically warned against the threat of a "military industrial complex" to American democracy in his farewell address to Congress) and "curt, smug moneybags" to the more socially aware Tony Stark of today-much like America he's clearly come a long way!
Anybody think as I do? Terry |
