I think Loki's shown quite a bit more magic than just that. The fact that he can move between worlds on his own is pretty damn impressive.

And no, don't get sucked into the Michael Bay Theory that sequels have to keep getting bigger and bigger and villains getting bigger and tougher. Enchantress' magic may not be up to par against Loki's, but she's certainly dangerous in her own right, because her powers involve a different kind of manipulation --- sexual. She can turn Thor into a puppydog, so to speak. Or literally, if that floats your boat.

He doesn't really show it at all, but he mentions to Heimdall about ways to get into Asgard that avert even his gaze. So, it's basically inferred that he can open doors into Asgard that have nothing to do with Bifrost as well as "shroud" or "cloak" others' presences in said Asgard that Heimdall can't see. The Frost Giants got in that way when they tried stealing the Casket.

Yeah, after seeing Avengers, it really seems like it wouldn't make sense for Thanos to NOT show up at some point in Thor 2.


He has to make Loki pay, and he would want the cube and the jewel from the staff, not to mention his gauntlet being in Odin's vault

Not in her original appearances and that is what they are going with according to bleeding cool. Unless by 'What version of Jane Foster did they use' they mean an entirely new one. Branagh was pretty clear he was inspired by 60's Thor

I'm afraid I don't understand your post.

The "version" of Jane Foster they used was entirely invented for the MCU, and has no counterpart in *any* comic-book version of her --- in all comic versions, Jane Foster is a nurse, not an astrophysicist.

Not sure what you mean by "not in her (Enchantress') original appearances," either....

Mads Mikkelsen looks like he may be taking a trip to the Marvel Universe. Variety reports that the Casino Royale star is in talks to play a still-unspecified villain in Thor 2.

The film will mark the third big screen appearance of Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Tom Hiddleston's Loki following 2011's Thor and this year's Marvel's The Avengers. Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander and Idris Elba have been confirmed to be returning for the Alan Parker-directed sequel as well, though even more of the first film's cast likely to be back as well.

Mikkelsen is no stranger to Norse legend nor to tales of gods and men, having appeared in Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising and the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans.

Featuring a screenplay by Robert Rodat and Don Payne, Thor 2 is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2013.

yeah, they are going hog-wild over on IM3 too lol. It will be interesting to see if more actors actually seek out marvel roles since the avengers has just finished Phase 1. Guys like RDJ, Cheadle(even though I dislike him as rhodey), Anthony Hopkins, SLJ are no slouches in the hollywood department and I'm sure with others seeing how they have embraced the CBM world, maybe their inner geek will come out and we'll get even more iconic turns of characters on big screen for the future movies.

In Bleeding Cool's article it says that when asked what version of Enchantress would be used their source said 'What version of Jane Foster was used?'. That could mean two things, movie Jane is a modernised 60's Jane with a different job. She's not like the Jane we saw from the 90's on. Branagh said that he was inspired by those 60s comics he read as a kid. Or, it could mean that their Enchantress will be very, very different. What I mean by 'in her original appearances' I mean her first 60's appearances when Thor was not affected by her at all. It wasn't until writer fantasy got in the way that he started to succumb.

Jane Foster is a Doctor, not a nurse anymore. The only Nurse Jane left is Ultimate Jane. She was a curator of a museum in The Mighty Avenger. Still Jane though. I don't consider a job a character.

nurse was one of the most professional jobs a woman could have in the 60's i think, so with the changing times being an astrophysicist fits with that level of professionalism. also helped explain worm holes etc.

Nah, sounds like they're going for a more "natural" look for Dark Elves and Frost Giants and the like, instead of relying heavily on CGI and costuming. I think this is where Hemsworth was saying that Alan Taylor is going for a more "realistic" look for Asgard to make it a more authentic feel, including real-world location shoots instead of soundstages and elaborate Jack Kirby sets.

Yeah, there was nothing wrong with the Jotuns, but I imagine the thinking this time around is that if you get freaks with heavy tats and wild hair and piercings IRL, the look is going to be more real and organic than something that looks like a Hollywood makeup and prosthetics job.

"We're going to see the other side of Asgard. It's not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie and Thor returning with Jane Foster."

See, "major, major new antagonist" for Thor to me screams Enchantress far more than Malekith. Enchantress is probably Thor's second most antagonistic antagonizer behind Loki. That's why I'm in the camp that believes Mads is auditioning for Skurge, and we'll hear casting news soon for an Enchantress who'll become the central villain.

Venom and Bane aren't roid-rage bricks in their movie versions, either. I think the studios have figured out that WWE rasslin' superstars don't necessarily make for great actors. They could be re-inventing Skurge for the movies: after all, a god doesn't have to have massive biceps to prove that he has the strength to throw your ass through a brick wall.

Especially in Skurge's case, I think you lose something if you go with a small build. It would be like creating a Hulk with a swimmer's physique. You're missing part of the character.
