I agree. It's complex to predict how much TDKR will make on OW and WW. The marketing is in full swing now, and WB has made some brilliant moves to get Batmania established by July 20th.

At this point, I'm willing to believe The Dark Knight Rises could hit that high domestic. Had that opening (Low $190Ms wouldn't surprise) for awhile now - even before The Avengers cracked the $200M 3-day nut.

Prometheus, while I've heard great things (Buddy of mine said it was better than Aliens and Scott's best since Black Hawk Down though he did advice I see Alien beforehand!), don't know if the public is going to flock to see.

It's strange that there hasn't been any reviews for Prometheus yet. If there is no reviews starting to come out tomorrow i could start to get worried. Either Fox are worried about the critical reception or they might just still be playing the "top secret" game with it.

Ehh none of the trailers or tv spots really spoil anything. Some shocking images but how they all fit together and the "big picture" is still a mystery.

MIB took it from Avengers at long last. I love Avengers, but it felt like the summer season doesn't really start until we start getting some healthy competition.

I watched the preview of the first trailer, haven't watched one since, haven't looked at a poster and looked away during TV spots. I'm thoroughly unspoiled.

Even though MIB3 won the weekend, it didn't set a record. Sony was expecting a $75M-80M Memorial Day opening weekend -- but they're on track for $70M now. And the film had a whopping $225M-$300M pricetag, and I think MIB3 will take a hit next week when Snow White & The Huntsman comes out.

Sunday Update: Sony reports that Men in Black 3 will reach the $200 million worldwide plateau by the end of Monday. The studio estimates that $70 million of that will come from North America. MiB3 is currently playing in 106 territories and it's the #1 film in 104 of them.

Well, the trailers for this movie have been good, and having both Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth in the cast really sells the movie for me. Not saying that it will be automatically be good, but I think it will at least be entertaining.

I don't have a hard-on for this movie, but Universal has been marketing it hard and very well. MIB3 has decent word-of-mouth, and it shouldn't drop too hard even with SWATH in theaters. Even if SWATH isn't as good as it appears to be, it should have a decent opening.

Also I believe press screening are till like Tuesday or Wednesday, usually when its that close to the release date its not a positive sign.

Those numbers make me think the audience is very weary on Hollywood cash-grab retreads. Even though MIB3 got (mostly) good reviews and solid WOM, $70 million in a 4-day holiday weekend is not good...especially for Will Smith.

I think this skepticism we're seeing from moviegoers spells bad things for TASM, Total Recall and The Expendables 2. It also makes me very curious as to what SWATH, a potential franchise-starter, will do.

COOL THOUGHT: Maybe this means audiences want stronger women in their blockbusters now. Katniss and Black Widow say hi.

When did Prometheus have press screenings? If that film is crap i will probably cry. And i don't mean critical reception, i don't care about that, i mean if when i see it i find it crap, it'll be like a gut shot.

NOT. GONNA. HAPPEN.

Don't think like that. Prometheus must not fail.

yeah 70 mill 4 day is not good for will smith summer blockbuster.i thought it would do 70 mill in 3 days and another 15 mill on the holliday.i think this will be a hint of what spiderman does because people are luke warm on it.total recall will bomb colin ferrel wont carry it.swath i think will be a hit you got the twilight crowd and the thor crowd interested in it.with amazing spiderman if its good it will be like batman bigins with not crazy domestic numbers the sequel like the darknight could make a lot of money
