Can you track the comic and/or cartoon source?

That recent banner poster is totally an homage to B:TAS. Nolan's Batman hardly ever has his cape over his shoulders, so it seems obvious.

That cover reminds me of that early conceptual Bob Kane drawing ...

This particular shot...
![]() ...looks like it was inspired by: ![]() This isn't from a comic book, but the Justice League episode "The Savage Time," part one. |

Nice find, OnTheAir! They even have the knuckles and armor.
What did that gun do? The one in TDKR is an EMP gun. I don't imagine Batman was pumping people full of bullets in the cartoon..

These are very cool indeed, I'd do a search myself but I have a mountain load of Batman books to sift through.

![]() "The Savage Time" is one of those alternate timeline stories in which someone (in this case, Vandal Savage) has gone back in time and changed history. In this new timeline, the Axis Powers won World War II. Batman is the leader of a resistance movement against a fascist regime led by Savage. That's my long way of saying that this isn't the Bruce that we know and love. He's very similar, but the experiences that led him to this point were different than the "normal" timeline. That being said, Batman grabbed the gun from one of his freedom fighters to threaten the Justice League (he wasn't a member in this timeline), as he wasn't sure whether they were friends or enemies. However, he didn't fire the gun, nor did he use one during any other scene in this episode, so he may have had "our Bruce's" aversion to firearms. |

Thanks! I was re-watching the Justice League dvds recently, and when that scene came up, the similarity jumped out at me instantly!

I'm too lazy to dig out the issue and scan it right now, but I'm pretty sure it's Batman 618, an issue of Hush, where Jim Lee did pretty much this exact pose. |

Some of these no doubt have served as inspirations others i think are coincidences though.

People have been trying to figure this one out and I believe I found it. It's basd on Dave Dorman Batman: Saga of the Dark Knight 1994 Trading Card art:

Re: some of the comparisons being made in this thread:
"You're right, no human being would stack books like this." Whereas some of the others (mainly the promo art, with which Nolan has little or nothing to do) are clearly directly lifted from certain comic art. \S/ |

You realize there's NO connection between those two images besides the coincidence that both feature Batman with his cape covering him?
I think there's a lot of reaching in this thread, outside of the obvious examples. \S/ |
