I personally would have had no problem if they stopped after The Cell Games.

Back to LoK though, which of the remaining 5 episodes do people think we'll finally get the Avatar State? I hope they don't cop-out and keep her Avatar Stateless for this season.

There's a rumor floating around that episode 9 is entitled "Out of the Past". Maybe Korra will finally get to meet Aang or we'll understand what those flashbacks mean. We'll see.

That would be cool. I rewatched Episodes 6 and 7 today. Still excited for Beifong's idea of 'operating outside the law'. If she is anything like her mother, It will be a sight to see.

I can't decide whether next week is going to be Equalist drama or Air Temple shenanigans.

We saw them in the first episode of the series

I wonder if they'd really go through the rest of this season without having Korra air-bend even once. I find it hard to believe Amon can be defeated without utilizing all four elements in battle.

I watched a little of the original series and couldn't get into it. But I'm digging this one so far. I like the new older main characters and the very light romance and the action and the setting.

So people like me that either aren't too familiar with the original or those that didn't like it should give it another shot with Korra. Though I suppose if they're reading this they already know. For others what I will say is that it's possible to appreciate the show with little knowledge of the original.

About Asami Sato...

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Too-good-to-be-true character that is secretly Amon disguising her voice with a device or just a big fat red herring? I'm a bit biased with my suspicions toward Talia al Ghul types of characters.

I think it's worth persisting with the original series. It is aimed at a younger audience so the characters do make silly decisions at times but there are many parts of the story that are quite mature.

I wouldn't say the characters make silly decisions but that the first few episodes or so of season 1 is kind of more kid oriented.

The difference in production values is painfully noticeable. The writing is also inferior. Not that it's bad by any means. But everything they learned from the first show has gone into the new one.

This show feels (and looks) much grander, even though it's actually on a much smaller scale, with much less at stake.

Inferior is way too strong a word. The writing for the first season of ATLA was aimed at its target audience: kids between 7 to 12+. I watched it when I was about 18 and I loved the **** out of it.

LoK is aimed at the said target demographic who have undoubtedly grown up over the years. The tone of the story is a little darker and maybe a tad more political with shades of grey here and there which would probably suit the tastes of the grown-up demographic of ATLA fans.

And the animation was probably the best of its time. I mean...it didn't really have much to compete with in the States.

They make some decisions and take courses of action that one might expect children to make without any forethought or consideration of the bigger picture.

So what's everyone's big complaints about the show?

Two of them that I've come across is that it doesn't pander with enough fan-service toward the original (some want it be near carbon-copy of the original). To me, a new viewer, doing that would just drag the show down. I think they need to move on and accept new things.

The other complaint is that the plot of the show is rushed. This also might be in comparison to original. But I like a lack of filler in my shows as well as the fast pace.

More fan-service? Absolutely not. It should only be done that would service this series anything that is crammed in would just hurt the show.

And it being rushed can be a valid complaint however its hard to say without watching all 26 episodes to see how it flows.

I really don't want to know how a series starring mostly kids can have "fan service".

Haha, don't worry, I wasn't referring to the more seedy types of fan-service.

Fan service doesn't always mean "sexual reference/situations". In this case they want more old characters to be making appearances in this series.

I'd say the character design for me, at least with the guys. a little TOO 'anime' for my taste, not a huge anime fan. The original show, while it did have anime influences, didn't go overboard with it and was still undeniably an american made animated series.

Basically what liam and varsas said. I think you have to just weather the storm a bit with the original series at first. It is definitely geared towards kid to start, but it gets more and more mature as the series go on. And the humor does get way better .

I would hope you go back and just grit through the few unpleasant episodes you don't like and give it a chance. By the end of the series I think you'll be like most of us, and absolutely love it.

It's not perfect, but it is one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Fixed! Lets not forget the unsung heroes of animation in this day an age. The Koreans have been doing an awesome job with their suddenly booming animation scene to the point even Japanese IPs are being outsourced to Korean studios.

And the character designs strike an awesome balance. I won't say its "distinctively" American with "Anime influences" but I think it truly is a style unto itself. As for the guys being too anime, I really doubt it. I mean Tahno and his exaggerated hairstyle aside, Bolin is on of the few stout, plus-sized (by which I mean muscular) characters in Animation.

I think fairly soon due to globalization, that there will be no real difference between "anime-like" and American.

Which raises a question, why is an American-written, Korean-animated cartoon in the Anime section?

If it's a problem for you go to the thread in the tv section. Why does it matter? This should just be an animated section, if it should even exist at all.
