I feel that ILM stepped up their game big time in Avengers. The Hulk in this movie looks to much like Ruffalo its scary at times. Plus the Hulk is fast, can emote and looks as powerful as he should have all along. When he takes out that Leviathan with one punch( yes it was cool for IM to light it up with one of his tank busting rockets after all the trauma from Hulks punch destroyed the armor) its awe inspiring. I like "Ruffahulk" the best personally.

Yes, i also like the speed of the Hulk in Avengers. He was like a steam train. There's a shot where he's chasing Black Widow down that narrow glass corridor and we get a low camera shot of BW legs as Hulk's running behind her, that looks errie as hell! Also the part when he comes running from through that office building and jumps on the Leviathan was awesome.
I also wanted to address TIH cg: It is in comparison horrendous. I actually think it was done this way on purpose. To contrast the serious nature of the Ang Lee film, i truly believe that the film makers went for a more cartoony look for TIH Hulk, as there is no way in hell i can see any sane animation team, and studio signing off on half the F/X in the movie. The Hulk's big daytime reveal (when he jumps out of the campus over past) shot was the worst in the movie. That shot should have been the best in the movie, as that's when we actaully got a good look at the Hulk in all his glory after him hiding in the shadows in the bottling plant. We as the audience should have been saying "oh **** ![]() ![]() ". The only passsable cg in TIH was the cave scene in the rain. That's the only scene where Hulk looked like he was rendered with some actual care by the animators.

One thing I think all the movies got right, but Avengers in particular, was Hulk quick reflexes...I loved when he caught the pilot after he ejected.

I remember hearing an unanimous "gasp" in my movie theater when the pilot is tossed, and his parachute opens!

The second time I saw the movie, a girl gasped out "my god" which got real laughs after the pilot's parachute opened.

I thought he jumped off the wreckage before it exploded? Either way, it was hilarious.

![]() This shot, with his knee up and his face, is actually a bit similar to the group shot released with Iron Man flying in the front and Hulk in the background where people were wondering whether he was wearing any pants.

Cool. Hulk movements should be quick and explosive when he's on the attack.

The CGI in The Incredible Hulk is atrocious. Not once during that entire movie did I believe in the physical reality of the character.

I agree it was a terrible Hulk movie (We haven't had a Hulk movie yet...two Banner movies) but it also bored people in general.

I have to disagree. 60 mil is a 'meh' opening especially when you consider it was predicted to make around 80 opening weekend, and it was riding on the back of Spider-Man's record breaking opener the year before. Expectations were high. MIB:III only made around 55 mil in three days, and that's an established franchise and just a few mil short of Hulk.

And I never saw anyone in the industry predicting $80 mil at all . Iirc, Universal was (optimisticly) citing around $60mil at the high end and that's what it got. What killed it though was the huge drop offs, after word got round just what the movie was really like. The drops were big enough that it ended up making half it's domestic money in that opening weekend.

I don't have anything as far as a site i can post for the prediction, but i distictively remember hearing 80 mil was the expected take for the b.o.
Like i said, this movie was riding on the buzz that if Spider-Man can do big numbers, then it could too. It failed miserably in those regards. That same year Bruce Almighty, and Finding Nemo opened to almost 70 mil. The prediction for Hulk was in line with X2's numbers - which pulled over 80 million the month before. Hulks 60 million was rather 'meh for such a big iconic character.
