Kerry Wood is retiring, here is the all time K/9 leaderboard
http://www.baseball-reference.com/le...e_career.shtml Oliver Perez is a shocker, let alone being top 10 in anything |

Not surprised about Perez, in SD/PIT when the wheels hadn't fallen off the guy was comparable to Randy Johnson.

The Pirates are so... sooooo close to getting to .500. Come on, Pittsburgh, don't screw it up. Just keep it from being a losing season. Please.

Pretty certain my Yankees are not winning it this year. Would be interesting if Collins takes these Mets into competitive baseball come August.
Gut tells me the Texas Rangers will finally win the WS

The Angels are starting to come around now and I'm not counting out the Tigers just yet. I wouldn't be shocked with an Angels and Rangers ALCS.

Yeah, they have just seemed like a different team ever since the Rivera injury. I haven't been able to watch as many games as I'd like this season, but I don't get the same feeling with them this season that they have a chance to win every game. So I wouldn't be too surprised if they end up as a wild card team instead of winning the East, despite everything that Boston has been going through. I can see the Rays winning it instead as long as they stay consistent.

Oswalt is gutless and lacks competitive drive. His Roger Clemens-esque free agent act this season with him coming in as a hired gun for the second half makes me like him even less.

Old Men coming in at the halfway point ain't the worst plan in the world. Be that as it may, I'm not convinced Oswalt will be a fit for the Rangers. If he falters at all, I'm comfortable with him taking a long relief role. Let Alexi and Scooter get the starts.
But then it all depends on how much the deal was for. I hope they didn't go overboard. We still gotta pay Josh at the end of the season.

This story about umpire Laz Diaz not letting Russell Martin throw the ball back is hilarious. Quality of umpiring has gotten so terrible these days.

Johan Santana has just pitched the first no-hitter in Mets franchise history.

Gutsy call by Mgr. Collins to leave him in even after 120 pitches...a guy who worked long and hard to rehab back from 2010 surgery.

Congrats to Santana and the Mets. After 8,019 games, only team left now is the Padres.
