It made sense. Saying they took the lazy way out is foolish. They did film scenes with webshooters, they just decided that it would make audiences question his choices for ways for making money.
Yeah but his Uncle Ben taught him to use his gifts responsibly.

So he sells his technology to the highest bidder and Oscorp uses it to sell to black market.

I wish there was What If comic so people would think about why Peter uses webshooters to fight bad guys.

Organics are just too obvious and unispired. There was no good reason to get rid of mechs, Parker's greatest invention and contribution to his own super-abilities.

Well no one said he would have to sell anything to Oscorp.

And making a really good design and selling it is not selfish or anything Ben should disprove of. If he became Spider-Man, had his webshooters and stuff, there would be no need to work for the Bugle. He could use his scientific gifts and go work for some really fancy lab, and still fight crime on the side.
If you want to argue on what is really irresponsible, try taking pictures of yourself and selling them for a ton of money.

I mean, come on now. We get it and we all love it, but that is way more selfish then selling any new type of invention.

Oscorp could get their hands on anything Parker put on the market.

If Peter Parker worked in a research and development lab most of the time, yes he would become another rich guy but he'd be wasting his unique gifts to save people on a daily basis as Spider-man.

Even if I were such a stickler for adhering to the comics that I simply COULD NOT accept organic webbing, I don't see how big, gaudy dials and flashing lights are an improvement.

I never minded the organics - makes sense that he would inherit all the qualities of a spider-man and not just a select few.

A man after my own heart. 10+ internets for you friend!

Anyway, The Amazing Spider-Man movie game made it REALLY easy to pretend he has organic webbing. So, there's another win for organics there, or at least a win for me.

Why should all of Spider-man's powers be predictable, uninspired, and obvious?

He's much more interesting when he gains an unique mental ability like the spider-sense or creates a webbing device and formula that can be adjusted to fight different villains.

Organics is just so basic. Parker is just a lucky freak who contributes nothing to his own abilities. With mechanical webshooters Parker's nerdiness is essential to being Spider-man. Why lose that just to over-simplify Spider-man???

Organics suck! Nuff said.

His nerdiness was unharmed in the Raimi movies without the mechanical ones, so....it balances out. MECHANICS SUCK, NUFF SAID.

It balances out?

Nice try, but no.

Mechanical webshooters prove only a nerd could've been Spider-man.

Anyone could be Spider-man with organics. Raimi missed the point like the rest of the sticky body fluid fans.

Hey, I'm always trying to keep this thread as a place for people who like organics to discuss them. I never aimed for it to become a heated debate over and over again. This is MD's doing. Whenever I, or someone else posts in thread, he comes along talking about why they suck.

The webbing I mean, he doesn't say the poster sucks.

And I don't mean this to be a callout or a flame, it's just an observation on my part. I just wanna keep this thread civil, and saying organics suck is EXACTLY what I don't want to see in this thread. I just wanna keep things friendly.

Well I've posted plenty of civil comments in this thread (for many pages).

"Organics suck" is an older term. Anyone who's been here for any amount of time knows that.

Lets not pretend I insulted someone's mother or something.

Gotta get this back on track.... With the large emphasis on the cross-species DNA thing in the Amazing Spider-Man game, I think organics wouldn't be too out of place in the ASM gameverse.

This. Too often, the mechanical webshooters become a plot device at just the wrong moment; "Oh no they're jammed!" "Oh no I've run out of webbing!" Screw that (and I hope TASM doesn't succumb to this temptation).

Spidey needs webs. We all accept that; the "how" is less important, and Peter's intelligence can be shown other ways. I would like to see him use Spider-tracers on screen at some point, for instance.

There's no better ways to show Parker's intelligence is needed than the frequent calibration and adjustment of his webshooter and synthetic web formula.

What's more impressive: making his web formula resistant to Mysterio's mist, Electro's shock, Rhino's strength, Sandman's powers, etc. or him shooting a tiny GPS chip on Green Goblin's glider?

With organic webbing, Parker would have a much harder time countering different situations with his foes, and since he would unable to change the "forumal", he would have to really really think on his toes. With mechanical shooters, all he has to do is change up the forumal or something. But with organic, he has to make do with what he has. Makes for more tense and dire situations, IMO.

The most dire situation is when Peter runs out of webbing and falling to the ground.

Yeah, I hear that's Spider-Man's one and only weakness.

The PS1 games did too, once you unlocked unlimited webbing.

So you want Peter to out-technobabble his adversaries. Gotcha. "Mysterio is using his mist! But he doesn't know I've upgraded my webbing!" "But I anticipated this Spider-Man! So I'm using a new mist formula!" "AH-HA! I knew that you knew I would upgrade! So I retensioned the polymers in my upgraded formula, anticipating your upgraded mist!" "AH-HA-HA! And I knew that you knew that I knew! So I reformulated my mist with a new base compound!" Etc.

The web formula and web shooters are plot devices and/or MacGuffins, not good storytelling.
