Where Odin wanted him to be a kind, forgiving, fair, sympathetic, protective steward towards the causes of the weaker beings of the universe Loki has chosen a polar opposite path that Thor chose in the first solo movie. I find it interesting that Thor and Loki took such a varied approach to being exiled. Whereas Thor became much more compassionate and responsible Loki became much more arrogant and destructive.
I really wanted to see a cameo in Avengers where Odin learns of Loki's presence on Earth and instructs Thor to bring him home. It could've been an emotional scene .... Ah well. Guess we just have to wait for Thor 2 to revisit the dynamic.

Considering Loki's personality makeup I don't even think people like Jane and Darcy could have helped him. Remember that Loki did threaten Jane's safety even before exiling himself.

Don't lose faith in that hope now though with Thor 2 ready for production soon. You don't think they'll not let Odin have a juicy scene in light of him finding out that Loki, the son of Frost Giants, the man he took in as his own son and raised him to be a prince, has committed mass murder on a universal scale. I'm sure, like any law abiding, responsible parent, Odin will be naturally horrified by the truth that Loki is a murderer.

Or he'll probably be like 'I knew this was going to happen,' considering that Loki's real father is a Frost Giant who just looooooves terrorizing the mortals. Like Thor who thinks that Loki is still his family/responsibility and therefore he's the only one who's got any right to beat him up at all, Odin will definitely step in to give Loki his due.

I believe it would be more along the lines that he would fear that Loki would become more like his biological father and/or mother. I'm sure that any scene of Odin admonishing Loki for his crimes will be a powerful one. Despite Loki's lineage I'm sure Odin had the highest of hopes that his adopted son could stop the cycle of violence his race is known for and be a light of peace between the two warring nations, even with the threat of war between them. If I were in Odin's place I would be bereaved and angered by Loki's actions. Odin must surely be thinking that no son of his should be a murderer of the innocent like Loki has become. Loki will have to do something rather extreme to redeem himself I think because just like Black Widow and her ledger of past violent deeds Loki's is dripping red as well. I bet he knows that too but fears admitting it to himself.

On the contrary, I think Loki is well aware that his ledger is 'gushing red' and in fact was giving us an insight into his own state of mind at the same time he attacked Natasha's conviction. I always got the impression that the deliberate wait after asking 'can you wipe out that much red?' and listing Natasha's atrocities was to draw attention to the parallels in their situation.

I think as Loki tears into Natasha's justifications and morality, he does it with a fervor that suggests he is sneering at her because she has chosen a route he doesn't consider viable. I interpret the speech as one Loki could give to himself, after the events of Thor and before the Avengers, to keep pushing himself headfirst into the abyss he is convincing himself he belongs in.

I don't know, I was thinking that Loki tore into Natasha because he wanted to make himself feel less guilty about his own crimes and project them onto her.

I agree that he is projecting to an extent but I don't think it makes sense for his motives to be reducing guilt, seeing as the sum of his speech is about embracing, or at least accepting the monster that they both are. I think it's less, Loki wanting to absolve himself and more dismissing redemption and demeaning Natasha's attempt at it as a way of showing his own feelings about the matter.

He mocks her for caring about Clint. And I was all like 'Loki really seems to be the only smart one here, he can actually see what's going on with those two!'

Why can't it be both? He's cruelly dismissive of her efforts at redemption, because he chooses to believe redemption for such as her ( him ) is impossible. He chooses to believe this, because not believing he's irredeemable would be more painful for him than he could bear at the moment.

Tom certainly does like the ladies, doesn't he? So I take it that it is official that he and Susanna Fielding are no longer a couple? The Hollywood gossip harpy in me is just wondering who the God of Mischief is dating now. He certainly does know how to keep these things quite a secret doesn't he?

Hmm...thinking of this wacky scenario, but if I were dating a celebrity I'd vacillate between wanting the public to know we were an item as undeniable proof of it as I am looking for quite a serious relationship to thinking such a thing would shine a pretty glaring spotlight on me. In my case a spotlight might not be such a good thing because of my uniqueness of personality and life philosophy, but yet on the other hand I wouldn't want a break up to be such an easily instituted and forgettable thing, not that I'm an easily forgettable person I suppose. I'm just this wacky, Lucille Ball level type of a person when not stressed out by strange acting people. But here I go rambling on a silly little tangent as I often go on when engaged in conversation.

Tweeted by Tom today (nice to see him back to his normal tweeting self after that odd bit of silence that seemed to occur right after the fiasco regarding his facebook page - which has been now taken down.... stupid psycho fans) anywho, I digress...

Judging by the hand gesture Tommy is throwing up there he must be a Heavy Metal fan. I wonder if he likes Symphonic Metal groups like Nightwish and Within Temptation? If he does I am completely smitten. lol I guess there is a bit of an untamed, free spirited side beneath Tom's skin, perhaps from the Scottish blood in him I suppose. I can certainly relate to that and it makes me that much more interested in Tom Hiddleston the person, not the celebrity.

P.S. What in God's name happened on the Facebook page? I shudder to think of the horrors that commenced there.

Some stupid psychotic fan (I use the word loosely - the word 'fan', that is, not psychotic) was upset that he hadn't tweeted to her () and so she had a friend (or a friend of a friend) that was a friend of his on facebook. She managed to get access to his page that way and save some of his personal pictures. Nothing scandalous or anything (thank goodness, but that doesn't make this any less of an invasion of his privacy), but family photos, a photo of him holding his baby niece, I think pictures he'd taken while he was on the set of either Unrelated or Archipelago (can't remember which) things along those lines, and posted them to tumblr. Fans quickly rallied to his defense once they realized that these pictures had been acquired through devious means. They notified tumblr, managed to notify Luke Windsor (his P.R. guy that's constantly with him at events) and Tom's facebook page was taken down. Anyone on tumblr reposting the pictures was pretty quickly pounced upon/reported by fans. It's died down now, though every once in a while someone will repost a picture - my guess is they might not realize it's one of 'the' photos. For example I see the picture of him holding a dog pop up every once in a while (he has Loki black hair in it, so was probably taken around Thor filming) and I know that's one of them that was stolen from facebook.

He went pretty quiet on twitter after that happened (doesn't surprise me if the fiasco is the reason he opted to be quiet for a bit) and it's only in the past couple days that he's picked back up his regular tweeting.

So... yeah, that's the facebook fiasco.

I'm not in with the Hiddlestoners but I knew about the Facebook fiasco from posts on Tumblr. Fans -- the normal ones -- were on that pretty quick and warned people about the sicko who hacked Hiddleston's FB account. All stars have sick, weird fans, unfortunately.

At least there are some nutballs out there crazier than me. Who would even dream of doing that?? I mean come on, privacy people! The nerve. Ugh.

Anywhoooo...anybody voted for Loki on the Teen Choice Awards villains category? I did. Under the psuedonym 'Wendy Nicholls' no less
