With Shaw, we got back-story, we got motivation, we knew his reason for doing things and this made him an interesting villain, plus he was a major threat as well.

Shaw is my favourite villain of the entire X-Men film series. Kevin Bacon played the part superbly and that along with a top script was the reason I loved the character so much.

I think it was the beard and him trying to assemlate as a scientest that that happened. He may stay young looking but it doesn't say he can't age maybe he hadn't mastered his powers then either. Another excuse! etc...
