Another good read, with more information on Aquaman's backstory. Johns is doing this book some serious justice.

I'm still very curious about all these new characters. Right now I like the brazilian and the arabian girls but it's too soon to actually say I like the three other men. Wait and see.

I never read an Aquaman comic before, but since DC has done the whole New 52 thing, i figured i would give it a try. I must say, this series is one of my current favorites. Which is a great surprise. Hopefully Johns can keep it up

Same here, BigSams. I grabbed a ton of the new 52 and started killing what didn't grab me. Aquaman quickly became the one I looked forward to the most.

I wish I enjoyed this title to a tenth of a degree as much as you people do.

Having read Aquaman series previously...it just doesn't compare at all. In terms of setting, premise, characterization, and storytelling this is one of the weaker volumes Aquaman had had, IMO.

What previous arcs are you comparing it to, CConn?

Pretty much any arc since PAD started his run.

With the exception of Sword of Atlantis.

I don't often agree with CConn... but when I do, it's over Aquaman.

This last issue flew by in terms of how quickly I read it, reis's art gets better and better every issue. I am loving how they are tieing Manta to Arthur, it's cool and makes for a nice twist.

Cool page, but slightly confused, when The Operative breaks into either one or the base for Black Manta. We see different versions of his helmet throughout the years but next to an old diver's suit...we see the Silver Age Scavenger's suit. Don't know if it infers that he killed the old Scavenger and it's like a trophy or if he was the Scavenger first or what.

And The Operative was The Scavenger in Justice League. Plus with Hal on the team with a ring and Hippolyta already stone I think it's safe to assume Justice League takes place after the current arcs for all of the characters.

Aquaman has been a fun ride so far and personally I think it's better when you read it together(because sometimes the individual issues leave a lot to be desired.) I think the way Geoff is using Aquaman on land instead of sea is unique since most time Aquaman is used under the ocean hanging out in Atlantis or Sub-Diego and shows him being as awesome as he should be.

Aquaman apparently traded in the crown of Atlantis to become the King of Angst this time around.

This is the first volume of Aquaman I've paid attention to, and it's been satisfying to me, like now I'm starting to believe Johns when he said Aquaman really is cool.

Yes because he wasn't angsty enough during the early to late 90's.

He's amazing and deserves more love

He kicks ass and he can talk to sharks and ride on whales and has an undersea kingdom

All of that is awesome

Issue 11 comes out this week...and I wish I could find the interviews where Johns made such claims (memory makes me wanna say as early as issue 5 or 6 which obviously didn't happen) but shouldn't have Aqualad II and Aquagirl II shown up by now? Or did he say issues 12 and 14? Bah, I cannot recall.

At this point they would feel out of place in the story, kinda random. I think at the end of this arc we'll get at least one pf them.

I'm not really expecting them anytime soon. DC's clearly trying to move away from the family aspect that they fully embraced in the '90s and early '00s. Only guy permitted to actually keep his family around him is Batman.

But Aquagirl II is Latina and Aqualad II is Black. Maybe that is overlooked by them but that is easily more Minorities to say "look! we has them!".
